Island life sounds great, in theory--but only if you aren't an animal. The majority of foreign cultures do not support spay/neuter, and have no concern for the endless suffering happening in front of their eyes.
In Greece it is deemed "unnatural" to de-sex an animal--yet it is perfectly acceptable to throw bags of puppies and kittens in dumpsters or in the ocean. The Greek government funds widespread poisoning of street animals every year before "tourist season", so foreigners don't see how bad the situation truly is.
In Trinidad and Tobago the streets are filled with sad-looking emaciated dogs covered in mange.
Next month we head to Curacao, bringing supplies and support to the groups on the ground. The best way to get them what they need is to bring it--shipments are taxed and amazon doesn't deliver.
If you are compelled to help in the mission of these rescues, you can donate directly to Cats of Curacao and Kitten Rescue Curacao Foundation. You can also donate on our website through Squarespace (which charges a fee), or help with supplies through our Amazon wish list https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/20AFH6DRVYR6N?ref_=list_d_wl_lfu_nav_2.
Donations of flea & tick medication (expired or not) would be greatly appreciated- no Sergeant or Hartz brands, please. They can be dropped off at our location in Alto on Mon-Wed-Thurs from 2/16-3/10.
We appreciate your support in helping as many animals as possible.
