I've been fostering & rescuing since July 2023, my goal is to reduce the amount of kittens and cats in Oklahoma, and helping those around survive. I pay for most supplies, vet bills, and medicines including antibiotics and dewormers myself consider donating at our amazon Wishlist. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3UWK9B7PMVW7K?ref_=wl_share
2. Even helping raise awareness by sharing our page
s or pages for local rescues and/or shelters help our cause.
3. Consider volunteering or prepaying for an animal to be fixed at your local shelter. This makes them more likely to get adopted so they wont be euthanized.
4. Unhappy with your local shelter? Please do not give unkind comments, or reviews to your local ACOs(Animal control officers) they are working with what they are given. Laws involving your shelter come from the political level and do not involve them. You can advocate for change for your local shelter by speaking up to your local representatives and voting locally for laws that help send money/grants to your local shelters for a better building, more supplies, more help, and better veterinary care including vaccines that help stop the spread of disease and illnesses that help fight euthanasia of animals. Ask your local ACOs how you can best help them.
5. Ask your local shelter about your local T&R(trap & release) program, fixing even one cat helps. Make sure your pets, and the pets of your friends & family are fixed.
6. Sending kind words to anyone you know who is fostering, it is a rewarding, but difficult job.
7. Consider fostering yourself, reach out to your local rescue today to become a foster parent :). Some rescues will cover the costs of becoming a foster so you wont have to pay out of pocket.
8. If you find a stray consider keeping them until you find the owner and/or can rehome them if an owner can not be found. Oklahoma has no local no-kill shelters and a high majority of animals that are dropped off are euthanized. (Want to change this? Don't forget to speak up and vote locally!)
9. Keep in mind that no amount of help is to small! I believe we can all work together to find solutions to our overpopulation of cats and dogs. For us, and for them.
