BLOSSOM

Female
8 months
Fostered in Howick
Desexed, chipped, registered, fully vaxed, parasite free + 42 days free pet insurance

Trapped with her sister Cherry , and their mum, in a junk yard in Onehunga.

Once she knows she is safe, shes very brave and adventurous. Definitely a do-er, but loves a good cuddle and purr after all the action is done and dusted. Blossom loves playing with other kittens and big cats – is totally fearless! She is shy around new people and things.

A quiet household with teens and no dogs is best. Blossom needs patient people to settle her in and will reward her new family with lots of fun.

To meet Blossom please message. Note that adequate completion of an adoption questionnaire and a fee of $160 applies.

Guess who's found his happy ever after??!!

PETRIE!!

And he didnt even have to leave the building... 😬

Thats right, he has found his permanent home at HQ. Why you ask, because I bloody love his goober face and couldn't bare the thought of parting with him. Id like to think the feeling is mutual too.

From the day I caught this manky wee man by hand at the hell hole we refer to as The Opaheke Horror House, this man has inched further and further into my heart. He is 1 of only a handful that survived their ordeal in their short lives, some being found already deceased at the property. That place was probably one of the hardest jobs we've been to and I dont think I will ever forget it. It broke me. It was physically, emotionally (and financially) draining on everyone involved but it makes it all worth it, knowing we did all we could for every single one of those animals.

Petrie has been through so much. The size of an 10 week old kitten when we got him, he was around 7 months old. We fought hard to get him through the initial stages of severe cat flu, resulting in 1 eye enucliation, emaciation, severe anemia an dehydration. He then went blind in the other eye and then the seizures started. Our wee man was diagnosed with neuro FIP.

After all he had been through, we knew we had to keep fighting with him, until he didnt want to fight anymore... but guess what? He fought that battle hard, with us right beside him and he bloody well won!!! And look at him now!

He's a goof and a clown and I love him dearly, even when he uses my head to climb on the headboard of the bed, smears his drool on my glasses with his aggressive smooching and tries to climb up my pants (tell me you're a velcro kitty without telling me you're a velcro kitty) he is just the bestest boy. He has a way of "staring" at me that just warms my heart.

Welcome home Petrie! We loves you!!

BERT - special needs adoption

Male
3 years
Fostered in Takaanini
Desexed, microchipped, registered and parasite free

This handsome chunk of a man came into care after he had been hanging out at one of our colonies for a few months.

Bert with the short back and sides is a super smooch! He loves pats, cuddles, all the love. He's a real people cat, will go out of his way to get attention from his fosterer and deserves the best after being abandoned. Bert just wants to chill in the sun with human company and eat!

He is fine with chilled out cats. Would do fine with sensible kids. Bert is FIV+ which means his immune system is lower. FIV is not as serious as HIV, cats with FIV live long and happy lives kept contained and with their health needs kept on top of. Bert has great teeth!

To meet Bert please message us. Note that adequate completion of an adoption questionnaire and a fee of $100 applies. Bert will only go to an indoor/catio contained home.

Transport volunteer needed for 2 weeks max: Manurewa - Takaanini

We are helping a lovely lady with transport issues TNR her colony! Is someone South able to transport trapped cats to and from HQ once they are trapped in Rewa? This is a flexible situation, there are only 5 cats to be trapped so unlikely to last long.

Please reach out if you can help!

We got one week olds!

For those not in the know, this means a few things:

- these dudes were born in WINTER
- kitten season may hit earlier
- we need to desex more girls faster
- holy moly is that newborns in WINTER?

We have their tame mummy for now, and a foster lined up for when they are weaned.

Kitten season sucks for rescues, many kittens are impacted by poor maternal and post natal nutrition, parasite burden, dehydration, hypo and hyper thermia, diarrhoea, inbreeding, viral and bacterial infections and ringworm. Just to name a few complications.

Even kittens born to tame, owned cats have these issues.

We are buckling in and becoming creative with fundraising as we prepare, replacing or repairing the oxygen concentrator on our incubator is priority!

COCO

Female
7 months
Fostered in West Harbour
Desexed, chipped, regoed, 1st vax, parasite free + 42 days free pet insurance

Coco was found in South Auckland, thin and thirsty for attention

Coco is a sweet girl who loves attention! She loves to be tacoed and cuddled. Whenever she sees her humans she will flop over instantly and start purring and staring at you begging for just one pat (But you can never give her just one!). Coco loves to sit in the sun photosynthesising all day long, moving spots as the sun changes position making sure she is always in the optimum spot! Coco is confident and kind but does appreciate her own space from the other fosters. She is an airhead who loves the simple things.

She would do fine in a home with older children, Considering how attention craving she is she would do best in a home either by herself, or another peaceful cat. Coco needs an indoor home or a home on a quiet, safe street.

To meet Coco please message us. Note that adequate completion of an adoption questionnaire and a fee of $200 applies.

What we’ve been up to:

It’s never the animals that are the problem, it’s always the people. The time we spend convincing people to let us help, just to do the right thing is scary.

We have a high number of sites right now with difficult people involved. They think they know better, they won’t help or they just plain lose interest and stop replying to us.

Some of these people don’t understand we are volunteers with thousands of hours of experience across the team. Others can’t grasp we can’t take in any more untame teens. Some of these difficult people call themselves rescuers but are releasing tom cats undesexed or making vexatious referrals that waste our time.

We spend a lot of time and patience hand holding. So we are grateful to the public who get it. They understand what we do, they help trap, transport and care for these cats ongoing.

But most of all this week we need to highlight that our trappers have been up against some patience testing barriers that have slowed things down and ultimately meant less cats helped.

So from FPS management - thank you team FPS TNR, we are lucky to have you on board! We’re not the only ones who have noticed this week.

NONA

Female
6 months
Fostered in West Harbour
Desexed, chipped, regoed, 1st vax, parasite free + 42 days free pet insurance

Nona was found as a 3 month old in South Auckland, skinny, full of fleas, flu and super friendly! Following flu she ended up needing surgery to fix her eyelid that had folded inwards.

Banonas is Bananas! She is a crazy little love bug super smooch. Nonie loves cuddles and cannot get enough attention from her humans. She will bombard you with head rubs and purr away like there Is no tommorow. Noonoo is full of playful energy and is friendly to just about anyone she meets. Nona is not shy in new environments, but can be a bit of a diva around other cats.

Nona is fine with kids and cat friendly dogs. She would be fine with another cat that would be okay with her intense energy. She has mild scarring on her right eye so a home on a quiet street if she is indoors/outdoors is best.

To meet Nona please message us. Note that adequate completion of an adoption questionnaire and a fee of $200 applies.

DOROTHY

Female
10 years +
Fostered in Takaanini
Desexed, microchipped, registered and parasite free

This gorgeous senior came into care after she was trapped on a rural property that was being vacated. She wasn't microchipped but was ear tipped so we believe she was someone’s tamed TNR.
After a vet check, a course of medication for flu, blood tests (which all were great) and to finish off, all of her teeth out due to severe dental rot, she is finally ready to find her forever home.

Dorothy is such a honey. She is super affectionate and loves any and all attention and love. After a lap cat? Then Dorothy is ya gal! She is best suited to a quiet home where she can live out her golden years in peace and tranquility, being lavished with love like the queen that she is. Someone home with her during the day, would be even better as she is such a people cat.

Dorothy is not a huge fan of other cats although she would co-exist well with another chill cat. She has met the resident dog in her foster home and she isn't overly bothered so a home with a calm, cat savvy dog would be fine for her.

To make an enquiry, please message us.

Got this motivating message in the inbox this morning from the fam who adopted blind Tui.

She was brought into one of our partner clinics by a proactive member of public and fostered by one of our superstar vet nurse fosterers. Unchipped, undesexed, blind and roaming Roskill. This fam saw one photo of Tui and knew she was the cat for them!

We often have special needs kitties in need of foster and adoption.
Some of these conditions just need keeping an eye on, like FIV. Some look a bit funny yet cause no actual disability - like chronic rhinitis. Others require considered environments like our kitties with luxating patella’s. Weirdly ALL of the kitties we have with needs are smoochy and grateful and they surprise their people with how limitless their lives are.

If you’ve ever considered fostering or adopting a cat with considerations send us a message!
