Guess who's found his happy ever after??!!
PETRIE!!
And he didnt even have to leave the building... 😬
Thats right, he has found his permanent home at HQ. Why you ask, because I bloody love his goober face and couldn't bare the thought of parting with him. Id like to think the feeling is mutual too.
From the day I caught this manky wee man by hand at the hell hole we refer to as The Opaheke Horror House, this man has inched further and further into my heart. He is 1 of only a handful that survived their ordeal in their short lives, some being found already deceased at the property. That place was probably one of the hardest jobs we've been to and I dont think I will ever forget it. It broke me. It was physically, emotionally (and financially) draining on everyone involved but it makes it all worth it, knowing we did all we could for every single one of those animals.
Petrie has been through so much. The size of an 10 week old kitten when we got him, he was around 7 months old. We fought hard to get him through the initial stages of severe cat flu, resulting in 1 eye enucliation, emaciation, severe anemia an dehydration. He then went blind in the other eye and then the seizures started. Our wee man was diagnosed with neuro FIP.
After all he had been through, we knew we had to keep fighting with him, until he didnt want to fight anymore... but guess what? He fought that battle hard, with us right beside him and he bloody well won!!! And look at him now!
He's a goof and a clown and I love him dearly, even when he uses my head to climb on the headboard of the bed, smears his drool on my glasses with his aggressive smooching and tries to climb up my pants (tell me you're a velcro kitty without telling me you're a velcro kitty) he is just the bestest boy. He has a way of "staring" at me that just warms my heart.
Welcome home Petrie! We loves you!!
