It's been almost a month since I posted garden photos, so here are some more roses, and other fun things. This week there are baby birds everywhere, especially robins and grackles.

A few garden photos from the last week or so, mostly Roses! Not everybody is blooming yet, but we're on a roll of Beauty here. All of my Roses were purchased either from Heirloom Roses or David Austin Roses. It's important to start with healthy roses that have their own roots!

It feels so good to be back in my Garden!! It took all of last week to get the front Rose beds back in order, with all the blocks planted in tiny Alyssum and Lobelia, and there are still plenty of things to do. The Lily of the Valleys spread into the walkways, but they are starting to bloom, so I'll let them do that, and then dig them up and replant them where they can't wreak havoc, at least not for awhile. This week so far I've pruned the Gazebo roses, and that one crazy Rose, spent time meditating and doing Qigong in the gazebo, pruned the lilac bush, and harvested lots of Nettles (with plenty more, if anyone wants some.) Nettles and Roses are my 2 primary plant allies, and it occurred to me that they are both evil... Nettles with her sting, which I barely notice, and Roses with their thorns, always reaching out and clawing me.

The birds have been singing all day, like Spring is in the air already, and after I was done teaching I took a walk & then stepped out in the Garden, just to look around. It is kind of Spring-like, and I found some small Golden Turnips & Watermelon Radishes that I planted kind of late. Not pictured: Arugula and some other greens, and also some sweet looking leeks, and a variety of herbs whose roots would add nicely to my apothecary, including Dandelion for roasting and Marshmallow for drying. Also included... the very last rose of summer, and the last carrot!

This is the story of my Aloe plant, Audrey III. My parents had big aloes in their yard in Apopka, FL, that bloomed every year, so I brought a very tiny baby aloe home several years ago. She became huge! She blooms a few times a year, repositions herself in her pot regularly, and this year she had much more of an adventure than previous years. The story follows in photos. BTW, if you need fresh aloe, hit me up. Her leaves are huge, and she could probably use a little thinning out!
