With the money raised from Cat Cuddles Rotorua during 2024, today we sponsored 5 village leaders from Ndala village in Mulanje to come and learn how to make organic fertiliser from a worm farm at the Medic to Medic office.

spends huge amounts of money on commercial imports for fertiliser every planting season. There is plenty of organic waste and plenty of opportunity for worm farms to help make soil conditioners and fertiliser without relying on imports.

Ndala village was hugely adversely affected by in 2023 (we shared tears today). 25% of the village died in a single night and many more remain without homes. They used to produce one tonne of rice every year, but their gardens were destroyed by the sludge from mount Mulanje. We hope that by helping to produce organic fertiliser they can bring some much needed income to their community.

It cost us $250 equivalent to sponsor their transport, lunch and the learning sessions. We’d love to do more.

Great to meet Freddy this week - he’s just a bit of a cuddle bug!

For $10 a day I can pop in and feed your cat whanau. All proceeds support scholarships for trainee health workers in Malawi through Medic to Medic charity - or provide support for educational projects in Malawi.

I’d love to make some more cat friends - a 2 year old called me the kitty cat lady this week….so I feel I have a duty to leave up to that name!
