I’ve had a very prolific season of breeding. Nearly all of my in-house pairs were successful, and I have had no eggs that started out fertile go bad (I’ve had a few with only veins that I incubated just in case that weren’t fertile). Flossi x Kairos are this season’s champions, producing 9 fertile eggs. Her last clutch that I pulled yesterday was 1 fertile and 1 dud so she’s probably done or close. My red female who was paired to Gremlin is right behind her with 8, and then my Raven x Rime daughter produced 6, and Maize is also at 6 but still laying (late pair). Lenore is at 5, and my tricolor girl just laid her first fertile set (late pair).

The only thing I’ve changed is rotating in different diets, specifically I added VitalMeal Insect as a staple. I’ve seen overall better feeding response and growth and I can’t say for sure if the increase in egg production is due to diet, but it seems that way.

I don’t sell any diets and am not affiliated with any company, just sharing my observations! I use the Pangea Insect flavor primarily, BPZ Color Bomb (mixed in with Pangea) and VitalMeal primarily.

This has been a week. I know there are people I’ve been in conversations about loans and such with! This week hit me like a truck. I’ve had 3 dental procedures in a week, blood tests to recheck my iron levels to make sure my infusions were effective, and then I ended up taking my oldest crested gecko to the vet yesterday. On top of being swamped with work and taking care of a 2 year old during the day. I’ve had to make some pretty significant decisions for our future. I have had approximately zero mental or physical energy, and zero passion for hobbies, including geckos. This week has been pure survival mode. I will be back to posting content and conversations soon! Sometimes it’s just easier to make a post rather than try to explain individually to people who might be waiting on a response from me. Thank you all for understanding!

Our Story

The Crested Closet focuses on Crested Geckos because of their diversity, their relatively simple care, and the thrill of producing something completely unexpected, though we do keep other species simply as pets (for now).

We do not keep a large number of geckos, as we pride ourselves on breeding quality over quantity. We focus primarily on high-contrast individuals with a high amount of white and cream.
