I have been teaching dog training in South Australia for over 40 years, and have used a large variety and combination of methods to help people overcome issues they may have with their dogs. Your understanding of how your dog thinks, understanding its drives and instincts will help you obtain mutual respect, trust and confidence. My preferred me

thods use no special collars, leads, clickers or food and rely on the special bond created between handler and dog mentally and physically. Family and individual training is undertaken and may incorporate the environment of other dogs to demonstrate and explain social interaction and also to proof your dog’s focus and respect of you as its master.

A Training Tip - Keep training as brief as possible, with lots of hand contact and voice control.

The most effective training is done in the home.

For example, don't allow your dog to control your attentions. Give the dog affection under your terms and decisions. If your dog rolls over demanding a belly rub, call the dog up to a sit and then give affection. You can then put the dog in a down position and give a belly rub. You have then had a nice interaction with your dog, with you in control.
