It Takes A Village Animal Rescue

As most of you have heard, Rebel has crossed the rainbow bridge. I have my dog here, Hachi, and I have a rescue dog here named Donovan, who has been here two and a half years. Donovan has not been able to find his forever home, so he's staying.

It's been a great 10 years, and I wish I could continue the rescue. My goal was that in 10 years I would have my kennel runs completed. I was able to get the outside portion finished; however, I didn’t have the funds to complete the inside. If the inside was finished, I could house more dogs in a nice area without it taking over my house.

Unfortunately, we've had some very expensive cases in the last 4 years that have taken every dime our rescue raised. My current plan for the next two years is to get my house in order and maybe in the mean time I can find a grant that would help me finish the inside of the building. Until then, I will still be helping out other rescues where I can. I really hope that I can go back to rescuing dogs because this is my heart. Saving dogs and finding nice homes for them has meant more to me than anything else in my life. Thank you to everybody that has helped our rescue. Saving 451 dogs is not a bad run!

Today is a very sad day. Though I tried as hard as I could to extend Rebel's life, he started going downhill very quickly starting Thursday. So now our sweet boy Rebel is in peace. Hopefully running after their squirrels on the other side of the rainbow bridge. Rebel was surrendered to our rescue, we tried so hard to find him a home. I really wanted him to have his person. He loved to cuddle, he loved to go for car rides, he loved to go for walks, and boy did he love apples. It was the only thing I could get him to eat the last two days. He was way too young!
Rebel is the only dog I've ever had with kidney disease, and it makes you feel so helpless.
If you get a puppy/dog and he/she is hard to potty train, or a dog starts peeing in the house when he usually does not, please go to your vet and make sure there are no problems with their kidneys or urinary tract. The earlier it's caught, the more you can do. Rebel was stage 3 when the kidney disease was diagnosed.
I want to thank everybody that donated, shared, liked, etc.. I don't know what I would have done without my volunteers and you.

If anyone in the area has big dogs that would be willing to give me their empty bags, as long as they are not paper? I am in desperate need, it is what I do p**p patrol with.
