Guys, I'm drowning in abandoned animals over here. I have Victoria the dog attack cat who is recovering from dozens of puncher wounds. Chance who was found behind a business in Pageland SC almost dead. Anemic, covered in lice, fleas, and was battling a nasty virus that caused him to run high temperature. I gave him round the clock care for almost 2 weeks before he started to bounce back. Baby Breyers was left in an ice cream container outside a fellow rescuers house. Someone left her and her siblings (who unfortunately didn't make it) beside the gate near the road. The rescuers was out of town at the time, so Breyers is lucky her husband found her, and even luckier to be alive. Also, the puppy August that was found in the bottom of a dumpster at an apartment complex in Pageland SC.... and now the 9 day old kitten dumped as a donation at a thrift store in Monroe NC 😞

Supply wise, I am good, but Violet's House Cat Rescue has taken a huge hit with medical these past few months. Donations are down, long-term fosters are in needed, and request for emergency cases are received almost hourly. If you could spare a couple bucks towards medical, it would be greatly appreciated. Medical treatment, dewormings, vaccines, flea/tick meds, microchip, combo testing, spay and neuter, formula, fecals, all minimum needs for each animal in our care. This isn't counting transport funds, leg and eye removals, and treatment of many more illnesses and issues we deal with frequently.

If you could spare a few dollars it would be a huge help, and greatly appreciated ❤️ **Check out the Videos in comments***

***You guys are amazing! Scanners are taken care of! Other items are still in needed.***

Reaching out to my Facebook village with a somewhat unusual request.
Chesterfield County Animal Control Officers could use some supplies to more efficiently help the animals they receive calls about. Especially microchip scanners to help reunite lots pets with their owners. Currently, they have to drive the animal all the way to the shelter, where he/she is held and checked there. Not only does this take up much needed kennel space at the shelter, but also takes up much needed time the officer could be using on other calls.
If they had a chip scanner, pets who are microchipped could be returned home in a fraction of the time.

Chesterfield County SC is 806 miles total. Two AC officers services the entire county. Towns include Cheraw, Chesterfield, Jefferson, McBee, Mount Croghan, Pageland, Patrick, and Ruby. That's alot of ground to cover daily. The animal control department has a relatively small budget itself to operate. Animal Control and the Animal Shelter is two completely different departments in Chesterfield County. Animal Control Officers have been working hard for the well-being of the animals, and the supplies on the wishlist below is much needed and appreciated.

Supplies will be shipped directly to the AC officers themselves, so they can start using the items immediately. Let's help these guys and the animals. Rural County Animals deserve help as well. ❤️

Link to wishlist will also be posted in the comments 🙂
Picture is one of the Chesterfield AC officers transporting a lost dog to the shelter. Notice how puppy is riding in the air conditioning and not a box. 👏👏

Let me brag on the solar setup in the feral house... just one more time! One of the ceiling mounted solar fans also has a light! It makes it super easy for me to go out at night and take care of the cats inside. For everything who donated these items, or funds towards them, you all have made my life so much easier. The first few days I had the kittens in there, I had to use a headlamp to go out at night. The light on the fan also allows me to spend extra time socializing them after the sun goes down! Again, THANK YOU everyone who made this possible. I am very grateful for your kindness and help ❤️

I want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who sent much needed items from the wishlist I posted yesterday. These items will greatly help my unexpected addition of dumped/abandoned kittens, and also all of the animals I currently have in my care. So far, I've trapped a total of 4 kittens. The two moms are being a little more elusive of the traps... but I won't stop, until the entire family is reunited, and everyone is spayed/neutered. If you missed my live video from yesterday, check it out. It explains the situation.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for your kindness and support. Helping this many animals would be absolutely impossible without your support. I am extremely grateful, and I know the kitties are as well. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you village.

Facts about orange cats to start your Monday morning!

Ever wonder what makes orange cats so special? Spoiler alert: It’s in their DNA! 🧬🧡 Let’s break it down.

🐾 80% of orange cats are BOYS. Why? The orange gene is linked to the X chromosome. Males only need ONE copy to be orange, but females need TWO! That’s why ginger girls are rare!

🐾 No such thing as a solid orange cat. Every single orange cat is a tabby—even if their stripes are faint. The gene for solid orange fur? It doesn’t exist.

🐾 Freckles, freckles everywhere! A lot of orange cats get little black spots on their nose, lips, and gums as they grow. It’s called lentigo—and yes, it’s 100% adorable.

🐾 Orange cats = extra social? Studies suggest male orange cats tend to be friendlier and bolder than other cats. Coincidence? Science says maybe not!

🐾 Some are bright orange, some are creamy. Why? It’s all about pheomelanin, the pigment that creates orange fur. Some cats have more, some have less. That’s why you see different shades of ginger!

🐾 Big boys, big attitudes. Male orange cats tend to be larger than other cats. In the wild, bigger size = more dominance. Maybe that’s why they act like they own the place.

🐾 Sun addicts! 🌞 Orange cats LOVE warmth. Their fur absorbs light differently, making them naturally drawn to sunny spots and warm blankets.

🐾 They TALK. A lot.Ever notice orange cats seem extra chatty? Some owners swear they’re the most vocal felines out there. Science hasn’t confirmed it—but orange cat parents KNOW.

🐾 They might live longer? Some research suggests coat color could be linked to lifespan. Bigger size = survival advantage. But at the end of the day, health matters more than fur color!

🐾 They’ve been loved for centuries. 🏺 Ancient cultures believed orange cats brought luck, warmth, and prosperity. They knew what was up!

Orange cats = tiny tigers with BIG personalities. If you have one, you already know...

We don't just save kitties 🙂

⚠️ Warning! Graphic pics below!⚠️

18 days ago Brad brought home a very battered and injured turkey he found laying in the road. He watched an 18 wheeler straddle over her, right before he pulled over to scoop her up. He said she was badly injured on the phone, but once I seen her in person, I couldn't believe she was actually still alive.

Of course after seeing her, I gave alot of thought to quality of life. I never want anything in my care to unnecessarily suffer. I went back and forth between euthanasia or treatment. Her will to live seemed to be strong, so we decided to fight for her life together. 18 days later, she's fully recovered and learning how to "turkey" she's a super sweet bird, who is grateful for the help and 2nd chance. She will live out her life here with me at Misfit Farms as a cherished family member.

Welcome to the family of Misfits Cobbler the Gobbler ❤️

FOUND KITTENS?

If you find a litter of kittens, please DO NOT move them just because you don't see mom. More than likely mom is taking care of her babies, and it's possible you may never see mom.

Mothers leave their babies for a couple hours each time, as the kittens get older, mom may leave for 3-4 hours at a time. She will go out hunting and doing cat stuff until it's time to feed her young again.

Most cats are very smart when it comes to survival of their young. If they notice you near their nesting spot, or even see you watching them, they may not return back to their babies until they feel the danger (you) is completely gone.

What should you do? Check the kittens. If they are warm and quiet, mom has probably been with them recently. It's okay to briefly touch them, mom will still accept them when she returns.

Place food and water where mom can find it but AWAY from the kittens. This is usually the easiest way to get a glimpse of mom. Even if you don't see mom eating, check the food dish in a couple of hours to see if the food has been eaten. Check the kittens again, if they are still warm, and are quite, leave them be. Watch from a window or somewhere out of sight from mom.

When is it time to intervene? If you are certain mom has been gone for more than 6 hours, the kittens are in need of help at this point. Hungry kittens will not be quiet kittens. When you touch them they will start to cry and wiggle around frantically.

If they have become cold or cool when touched, the kittens need to be brought inside to warm immediately. You can do this by placing a heating pad on low topped with a thick towel or blanket, warming a rice sock, or in a pinch, heat a bottle of water in the microwave until hot and place under the bedding. Always place the heat under the bedding, never directly in contact with the kittens. Make sure not to heat the entire area of the box/crate. Only provide heat to half the area, this way if the kittens become to hot, they can move to a cooler spot.

Never feed a cold kitten, this can kill them. Also NEVER feed ANYTHING other than a formula specifically made for kittens. NEVER feed cows milk, human baby formula, or even plain water to young kittens, this can also be a death sentence for them.

If you've never taken care of small kittens this can be a difficult task. Please reach out to any local rescue group before attempting to feed the kittens. They can put you in contact with someone experienced. A volunteer that can provide you with the information you need to properly care for abandoned kittens.

Once you see kittens eating cat food on their own -typically at 6 weeks old, trapping, vetting, taming of kittens can begin. Spay and neuter of kittens is safe after they weigh at least 2 pounds based on recommendations of your vet clinic.
