Harrison has had his final round of heart worm treatment. He is doing well. A special thank you to the staff at Animal Wellness Center for helping him overcome this situation. All this having to keep it low key while he is on activity restriction is getting a little old for him. He is ready to romp and play and is dreaming about his future forever family as he’s recuperating. He has big plans for his summer. He wants to take long walks, watch movies with his new family, learn about them, and have long snuggle sessions. He LOVES snuggles! He truly can’t get enough! He’s a great car rider, and is also thinking about the day when he can swing by and get a puppuccino while his new best friend grabs a coffee. Thank you to all who have helped support Harrison during this time. He is a terrific dog and will make someone a fabulous and loyal companion. He's anxiously awaiting his new best friend.

Update on Harrison!

Harrison has received his first heart worm treatment and is doing well. The hardest thing is keeping his activity level down. He’s really looking forward to being able to run and play again. In the meantime he’s milking it for all its worth getting extra snuggles and enjoying some low-key house time. He’s improving on his leash skills with all the trips outside to do his business.

His next treatment is February 10th. He will stay at the vet’s office for two nights and then return a month later to make sure he’s heart worm free. He’s looking forward to being able to romp and play again just in time for spring!

Harrison is an approximately 3 year old Great Pyrenees mix (unsure of the mix part...looks to be possibly Akbash.) Harrison was pulled from the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter's euthanasia list by one of GPRO's fosters just a few hours before he was scheduled to be euthanized. He was found in a field as a stray. No one came to the shelter to claim him. He was so terrified when the foster representative went to evaluate him that he flattened his body out on the ground and would not move. Two shelter staff members were finally able to pick him up and put him on a cart where they could get him to the shelter office. One he got out of the stressful shelter environment he became much calmer.

The foster family reports that Harrison is very sweet but a bit timid. He is unfamiliar with walking on a leash so his foster family is working with him on this. He is scheduled to be neutered very soon and will receive his vaccinations.

Harrison loves to be scratched behind the ears, listening to classical music, and enjoys sitting in his foster family's yard, but he is dreaming of finding his forever family to finally have a home to call his very own with people who he can love and who will love him in return.

We did find out he is heartworm positive, and he will start treatment soon, and will be posted for adoption once he completes that.

We are asking for donations if you are able. It's been an expensive year with the few dogs we've been able to take in, and a down fundraising year. You can donate via our paypal link below, or you can visit www.nationalpyr.org and donate there, you just need to specify your donation is for GPRO. Thank you!

Spot and his littermates came to GPRO after being dumped in a rural area of Okla. They made their way to a nearby barn where the property owner quickly reached out to us for help. The litter is currently about 11 weeks old (today is 10/17/2024), and are Great Pyrenees cross pups.

Spot is a fun loving, happy go lucky pup. He loves having a play buddy and would well with an active family that he can be a part of the family pack. He's doing great at crate training, leash training and learning his basic puppy manner.

The litter has received two rounds of age appropriate vaccines and deworming, spayed/neutered and also utd on monthly prevention meds. They are ready to leave us to join their furever home so apply now at www.nationalpyr.org
