So don’t judge a doggy by its profile photo - come by & meet them! Because they say you should never judge a book by its cover & that is absolutely true for deciding who you might like to foster or adopt. One, sometimes it’s really hard to get the perfect shot - our doggies are full of life and fun & they do not want to sit & pose 😂 and two, what do looks matter when you’re looking for a lifelong companion? It’s all about their temperament & personality fit in your home.

Everyone is welcome to drop by - it’s an open event in a public space. Kids & resident doggies welcome!

Whilst not required to attend, we do strongly recommend pre-filling the short online form to avoid disappointment!

And just some quick important reminders why you should consider fostering or adopting with 🐶

✅ We ask for a four week foster period as standard but if you can foster for a shorter or longer time, that’s ok too. We offer you a lot of support and guidance, you don’t pay for any vet bills, there’s even free daycare available and access to a professional behaviourist. We can even provide second hand supplies - you just provide the food

✅ When you adopt with us you get a 4 week trial period before commiting, to make sure it’s a good fit. We cover any vet bills during the trial, you get a support WhatsApp group for life, discounted daycare rates and free access to a behaviourist. At the end of the trial, our adoption fee is 1,500 dhs (regardless of dogs age, breed, size - all lives are equal) and it covers microchip, vaccinations, neutering and passport!

This little fox-like fluff is Sally — a sweet, shy soul looking for a calm, patient home to help her feel safe and loved 🥹

Sally is currently in boarding .ae where Aunty Monique (who is just a little bit obsessed with little Sally 😂) is taking the best care of her. But we would love to find this girl a home as she truly deserves it.

She’s very skittish with new people and environments, but once she feels safe, she’s unbelievably affectionate. Her big, bushy tail never stops wagging when she’s happy — and seeing her trust build is the most heartwarming thing ❤️

She previously lived as a temporary steeping stone at home with Michelle and her pack as Michelle was another one that fell in love with this girl - clearly she knows how to charm everyone 😂 at home she was a little angel. Sally is fantastic with other dogs, very quiet and gentle, and completely housetrained.

She’s not confident enough for walks just yet, so a home with a secure garden would be ideal while she adjusts. All she needs is a little time, encouragement, and lots of love — and you’ll see just how special she is.

Sally is petite, fluffy, and full of potential. She’s going to make the most incredible companion for someone who understands that good things take time.

FOR FOSTER or ADOPTION - MILLIE ❤️

Millie is a super little dog and we can’t understand why she hasn’t been adopted yet. After her family left her behind when they relocated, she was devastated. This dog loves really, really hard.

She’s done really well in numerous foster homes but nothing has ever stuck. And for Millie, when she loses her foster home, it’s like she’s being abandoned all over again because she completely falls in love with everyone that shows her kindness 🥺

Millie is now just over 3 years old and a petite thing with a cute curly tail! She is low energy and more than happy to just chill out and snooze on the sofa - she does absolutely fine being left alone for periods and lives peacefully and calmly in an apartment ❤️

Millie is great with people and loves children. However, she does get very protective once she’s in love with you, particularly if her little friends are involved so you need to be willing to work with her with visitors.

Otherwise Millie is a super easy, seriously lovely girl. Toilet trained, great on walks, happily goes to daycare, knows her commands. She’s a brilliant dog who just needs someone to notice her and love her for who she is… we think you’re wonderful Mills ❤️

Are you looking for a low maintenance, friendly dog that is gentle with everyone and is even good with cats? What about if that lovely personality was packaged in a beautiful scruffy package that would just make your heart melt? Say hello to lady Chrysander! 😍

Who remembers our stunning colour pups? Well now you can see where many of them got their beautiful scruffy coats from! Mama Chrysander is a total gem. So lovely in fact that Michelle hasn’t had the heart to send her to the shelter, so she’s been living in Michelle’s family home… with many, many other dogs and cats as we’re sure you can imagine 🙈🤪

But this lovely older girl deserves a home to call her own, especially when we think she will do so well in almost any home. She’s toilet trained, friendly with everyone, lives with other dogs and is not phased by cats. She mostly likes to nap, sunbathe, be told she’s a good girl and get treats and belly rubs. It’s a dog’s life hey! ❤️

She is fine being left at home for some time and would be a great dog for teachers or those out the house for a few hours a day. She is going to need some help learning how to walk on the leash as it’s not something she’s used to but we’re sure with some encouragement and treats, she’s going to be just fine 🥰

This girl is really special and we just know that she will thrive in a home. Will you please give her a chance? A 4 week foster so she can attend adoption days and get some one on one TLC would be a great start ❤️

This big, friendly, energetic and playful boy is still waiting and we’re not really sure why! We’re sure the perfect home for him is out there 🤞

Thus big polar bear is currently boarding at .ae and he is so happy to be able to run and play! A husky x malamute (we assume), this boy is only one year old - he’s basically a giant puppy in both looks and personality 😁

Like so many before him and for reasons we cannot fathom, he was imported to the UAE as a small puppy earlier this year and already there is no want or need for him. Did they think he would stay a small puppy forever? 😡

Ice is not only beautiful but he’s so friendly. A big goofball who loves to chase a ball, he does great with other dogs and people. He is good with children but due to his size and energy levels, older children would be best.

He’s an energetic boy so will need an active home and he’s very long haired so someone that is willing to keep his coat in a good condition (no, he cannot and should not be shaved!). Husky experience would be great.

We are looking for a forever home for Ice, either in the UAE in the right home or abroad in a colder climate.

JUNIOR FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - BONGO ❤️

We honestly cannot comprehend how such a lovely, well socialised and handsome boy hasn’t been adopted yet? He’s so petite and cute too at only around 16kgs! What more do people want - he’s so happy, friendly and just a total joy to be around! 🥰

Bongo has been lucky enough to grow up in a loving foster home with two small doggy siblings and he has thrived. But now he’s been there months and his time is now running out - there is ZERO reason this boy wouldn’t be an amazing addition to almost any home 🫶

Just look at how smiley he is! He loves his days at daycare playing with all his friends, he’s gentle yet playful with children and would be a lovely family dog. His foster even rescued a kitten and he was so gentle and friendly ❤️

Bongo is great on the leash - he loves his adventures to the beach and going for his walkies. He’s also a super smart cookie - so well behaved at home and knows all his commands ✅

We do not know why Bongo is being over looked when he’s the whole package! He’s also much smaller than he looks in photos - petite medium sized desert doggy who loves to snooze and chill as much as he loves to cuddle and play.

Please, let’s find Bongo his forever people. He deserves it SO much ❤️

Our sweet girl Pepper is looking for a foster or forever home so she can leave the shelter where she is overwhelmed and desperate to be loved. She is now around 6 months old but very petite (this whole litter are) – she is shy but very sweet and just little sassy once she trusts you 😂 we know there’s so much personality just waiting shine ✨

She is gentle soul who’s still learning the world isn’t so scary. Pepper is calm and cautious but curious and eager to please. Once she builds some confidence she’s going to be a lovely little companion for someone patient and kind… but how can she do that if no one gives her a chance? ❤️‍🩹

She’s good with other dogs and would thrive in a peaceful home where she can build confidence at her own pace.

THE PROBLEM WITH RESCUE IS THAT POST-RESCUE… NO ONE CARES 💔❤️‍🩹

‼️ Foster homes for 10 week old pups needed ‼️

Do you remember this tiny baby that fell down a hole & needed to be rescued? Life on streets is dangerous at the best of times but so many pups die before they can even enjoy a few weeks of their lives..

And how could we leave the beautiful Mama & 6 siblings behind, to face the same fate? ❤️‍🩹

We rescued this family of 8 & some of you helped us to do to so. But we bet you all forgot about them then, right?

But we didn’t. Rescue day is only the beginning. From a love, care & treatment point of view as well as financially.

We have had to board this family at the vet in Fujairah ever since because we had no where else for them to go 😭

The puppies are now 10 weeks old & we really need to move this family out of a vet cage. Not only can we not afford it (remember, our account here is frozen, we can’t admit any new patients 😭) but it’s not good for them! They should be having fun & being cuddled.

Mama Celeste is also stunning - small, golden & fluffy not to mention super sweet 🥰

We desperately need foster homes! Puppies are now on solid puppy food which makes it easier & can go on foster in pairs or on their own if there’s another dog in the home (or if it’s trial adoption).

We need a 4 week minimum commitment. In return you’ll get SO much love - you literally get to watch them blossom and grow 🥰

🚨 URGENT JUNIOR FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - SAVANNAH

Savannah is our pint-sized powerhouse of joy and energy! At 8 months old and around 10kgs, she’s a tiny bundle of fun with a HUGE personality. Think pocket rocket meets cuddle queen, and you’re getting close to what she’s all about! 🥰

Savannah is the definition of playful. Whether it’s people, toys or other dogs – if there’s fun to be had, she’s there! She’d make the perfect second dog if you’ve got a playful pup looking for a bestie. These two will be zooming, wrestling, and snuggling in no time (and probably snoozing from exhaustion right after). But she’s also doing great as an only dog in her current foster! 🐶

When the play is done, Savannah is all about the snuggles. She’s affectionate, social, and LOVES being with her people. She’s confident, full of sass, and absolutely hilarious – the kind of pup that keeps you smiling all day long 😁

She’s also super smart and eager to learn! With a little guidance and routine, Savannah is going to thrive. She’s ideal for someone looking to engage, train, and grow with their pup – she’s been doing great with potty and leash training ✅

Great with other dogs, friendly with kids and even has done fine with cats out and about. She really is the full package.

Sadly, Savannah is now out of time in her foster home and kennels is just not where this vibrant little soul belongs. She does so well in a home – sleeping through the night, walking nicely, and making great progress with house training. She has her stubborn moments but who doesn’t love a little naughtiness? 😂

Can you give this little lovebug the chance to shine again? She’ll bring endless laughter, cuddles, and zoomies into your life.

She is doing well with her toilet training. She’s friendly with other dogs, people, will be great with children and even cats with the right introductions 😻

This little cutie is ready to take on the world and she’d love for you to show her the ropes and shower her with love. In return, she’ll give you so much love and companionship ❤️

Pre-registration is not required to attend, it’s an open day and everyone is welcome (including kids and resident doggos). But we do recommend it for a few reasons:

✅ Get matched with dogs that suit your vibe and ensure they’re attending

✅ Have all your questions answered so you know what to expect and how we work

✅ Be pre-approved so you can take home your new best friend right away if it feels right!

✅ If you’re interested in a particular dog then we can make sure they’re attending. Or if you’re interested in a specific dog that has lots of applications, we may place the dog (with the home that is the best fit) before the event so that another dog who doesn’t have applications has the chance to attend and shine ✨

Introducing our little superstars Laurie, Belinda, Saxon, Chelsea, and Piper – five gorgeously spotty pups around 4.5 month old who’ve just completed their healing retreat at the vet after being rescued from a dangerously dire situation 😞

They were in bad shape when they came in, but with time, love, and vet care, they’ve started to heal — and now they’re ready for the next chapter. They’ve been waiting and waiting in vet cages, but no one has come for them 💔

And here comes the drama:

The shelter is full.

They can’t go to boarding — they haven’t finished their vaccinations.

We have no spare foster homes with pups being returned constantly.

And we have nowhere for them to go.

These little ones are shy and unsure of the world right now, and who can blame them? But with patience, love, and a soft bed, they’ll absolutely blossom. They’re gentle, sweet, and yes — ridiculously cute, each one dotted in the most adorable spots you’ve ever seen ❤️

They’re at our vet in Dubai (where they’ve now been for almost 10 days 😣) and they’re ready to meet you and show you how amazing and deserving they are..

We really are at breaking point - we’re sorry to keep going on about it but it the very sad truth. We can’t help more animals in need unless we find foster homes — even short term. If you can open your heart and home for just four weeks, it could completely change the life of one of these pups while we search for something permanent 🙏

If you can’t foster, please help with the crippling vet bills that these pups and so many others are building up every single day they have to stay in a vet cage unnecessarily 😭

Our Story

Animals and Us is a non-profit, registered, animal welfare charity operating in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), founded in 2006, with the goal of reducing pain and fear inflicted on animals by humans.

The charity rescues abandoned and stray animals, provides veterinarian assistance, helps to find homes for unwanted animals through adoption, and educates the public in the responsibilities of animal ownership.

The charity works closely with a number of other organisations to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership, across the UAE.

The organisation was licensed, by the government, on 1st September 2017, in Fujairah, and solely relies on donations from the public to fund the charity to care for mainly cats and dogs. Those that have been rescued and those still living in the desert and on the streets.

The face behind Animals and Us and passionate founder is Michelle Francis. She is the founder, activist in animal welfare and is considered an expert in the field of animal rescue. She is not paid and does not have any compensation package from the charity. She simply has a love of animals. All the other help stems from volunteers.

She runs the shelter from her home and currently cares for around 80 animals there. Many of these animals have been collected from the streets, some with injuries and some with special needs. Michelle does not discriminate with these stray animals, she collects them whether they are healthy or sick, injured or able-bodied and nurses each and every one back to health.

In 2003, Michelle moved to Fujairah from Kolkatta, India, to pursue her teaching career. While living and working in the UAE she encountered several cases of severe animal abuse and she could not turn a blind eye and walk away. Michelle has dedicated her life to this cause and has not taken a vacation in more than 10 years because there was no one that would be able to care for all of these animals in her absence.

She still works as a full-time teacher.
