Not great news, Gwen has also come down with pancreatitis. It seems way too coincidencidental that they both got it within a year of each other. They are also a year apart in age. Prior to the episodes, both were fed Taste of the Wild.

Luckily it seems we caught Gwen’s earlier than Saphira but still very early in the healing process. To say the least I am pulling Taste of the Wild from any and all of my pets.

Wanted to share, not sure if it’s genetics as they are full siblings a year apart or the food but just in case.

I know I haven’t posted in awhile so I wanted to show you all that Saphira is doing great. It’s been 1 year since her run in with pancreatitis and she hasn’t had a relapse since. Paws up for that!

So far, so good. Saphira hasn’t thrown up in about a week now and finally had her most “normal” stool in weeks.

I think we are finally on the mend. She’s still on a diet of boiled chicken and rice for now. However all her pills are done so now we wait and see. Hopefully she will be fully back to normal very soon.

Another blood panel, urinalysis, and stool sample test. Blood panel and stool came back normal but she’s got a UTI most likely from her diarrhea.

So changing up the meds a bit with an injectable antibiotic and removing the trimodal and clovamox. Now we wait 3 days to see if she improves. If not, it’s back to the vet for a full GI panel and urine culture which would be another $300-$400.

We’re about $2k in now already so I’m really hoping she’s on the mend this time.

Wanted to give you all another update. Saphira ended up having to go back to the vet on Thursday because she started throwing up again.

We went to a family vet this time instead of medvet again. The vet was pretty sure she was having a relapse of the pancreatitis. So more pills and continued bland diet.

We’re now on the forth day of her continued treatment and I feel cautiously optimistic. She continues to want to eat and hasn’t thrown up but is still having mucous and blood in her stool. I’m a bit nervous as today was her last anti-nausea pill so in 24 hours the truth will be revealed.

I really hope she doesn’t end up needing to go to the vet again but we will see.
