Frank . . . .

I have had some great applications come in for Frank, and I want to thank everyone who has made the effort.

The truth is, I have not been able to bring myself to take the next step.
I know from a practical standpoint, this is the right thing to do, emotionally, I am not there yet, and that's the simple truth.

It's not the same as letting go of puppies when I have a litter, those puppies are born with the expectation that they will belong to someone else, and quite a few times, I've kept them anyway.

But at 4 years old (almost), this is a whole different story, and rather than keep anyone hanging, I am putting this on the back burner for a little bit.

Please, stick around and let's get to know each other, it will surely make decisions easier if and when the time comes.

Hey Everyone!

Believe it or not Frank is still looking for his forever home.

Last week's storms hit here HARD. I have been dealing with frozen pipes with no help for over a week.

I understand that some of you have moved on and I wish you the best of luck.

If you are still interested in Frank, please reach back out, but be patient as I am exhausted from working in a sub-freezing crawlspace by myself.

Frank sure is getting a lot of attention! Thank you for all of the shares. I have a feeling he's going to find an amazing home, and if not, he'll move overseas with me, not rocket science.

Anyway. I mentioned that Frank is not a breeding quality dog, and several of you pushed back, so let's talk about it!

Just because a dog 'has papers' or is pure bred, doesn't mean they are well bred, and there's a difference! Allowing Frank to be bred, especially by someone without experience, would be irresponsible.

Frank is what we call 'cow hocked' and 'over angulated' and these diagrams are the best way to show you. These are things we do not want to pass on to offspring, so Frank is not a candidate for contributing to the gene pool. There are far too many nice dogs, with correct structure out there, several living in my home.

Will these issues lead to an early demise? Nope. Will they effect his quality of life? Maybe a little as he ages but probably no more than anything else that effects an aging giant breed dog. Frank should be maintained at a very lean weight, and given a hip and joint supplement, like all giant breed dogs.

Any that my friends, is why Frank is not a breeding candidate.

Good afternoon!

I am working my way through applications for Frank. Thank you everyone for your interest.

I am slowly getting back to people, please be patient, there's only one of me, 10 Mastiffs, forty acres, a washing machine that needed to be worked on, and I am just getting over the flu.

I will not respond to 'how much'? My dogs are worth far more than a price tossed out to the universe.

I am not disposing of Frank, not getting rid of him. He is a dog that did not turn out as I had hoped, he is not a breeding candidate, and is not getting the kind of attention I want for him. I think he will thrive in a pet home, and be a wonderful part of someone's family (with some work, not going to sugar coat him lol). He is rough around the edges.

So please be patient, I am not taking this lightly, neither should you.
If you have read this far and are interested in a puppy, I have a friend who has a couple of puppies left from her last litter, who are Frank's nieces, I am happy to refer you. I am contemplating a spring litter (leaning towards not) but if there's enough interest, who knows?

Frank Adoption Information and Instructions:

First of all, can we all agree that he was pretty stinking cute as a baby?

Frank will be 4 years old in April, he's a typical Aries lol.

Frank is located in COLORADO and you will need to come get him, I want to meet you in person, he will not be put on a random transport service.

The application link is in the comments, once you've filled it out, message me here on the Sunstone Mastiffs page, and we will set up a time to chat on the phone.

To save us time, you must meet the following criteria:

Frank is NOT available as a breeding dog, there is no room for discussion on this one.

Frank is NOT available to a home with other male dogs, again, no room for discussion, but female dogs are fine.

YOU will have Mastiff, or other working breed experience.

Frank has NOT been tested around other animals, but he's usually great with the other Mastiff girls here, that said, he has tussled with the girls over bones.

Frank is rough around the edges and needs training, and will benefit from solid structure.

Please go through the list before messaging me with questions, I am not trying to be difficult but I received an overwhelming amount of interest, so I am trying to make this go as smoothly as possible for everyone.

If you miss out on Frank there are other dogs available, not necessarily from me, but I constantly network with other breeders, so don't get discouraged!
