UPDATE TO POST: If you are planning on rehoming pet via social media, please feel free to check with us regarding our Do Not Adopt To list.

We cannot stress enough how risky it is to rehome animals over social media.

We were recently made aware of a situation of animal abuse in a nearby county. Unfortunately by the time relevant law enforcement was able to get there, The perpetrators apparently had managed to get another similar animal over social media and replace the injured animal with it. The injured animal was nowhere to be found. It is fairly obvious what happened.
We have also taken in many cats this year that were initially given away over Facebook. These cats ended up being abandoned, neglected and/or abused. We urge everyone to use extreme caution if rehoming animals over Facebook. If you must please do your due diligence. That involves at the least a home visit and time spent with the adopters, including meeting everyone in the family to get a better sense of who they are. However, even so people can fool you. If you cannot take the time to do this please consider surrendering your unwanted animals to a rescue or a shelter. We know that shelters and rescues are full and it might take a little time to get them in but it will be worth it for the animals sake and for your peace of mind. It is the responsible thing to do, and will help save lives and prevent unnecessary litters.

UPDATE: Kittens were found by hospital staff and have been rescued!

Just received a notification about abandoned kittens at/by Providence Seaside Hospital. Unfortunately, that is all the info we got, without more there's not much we can do. If you are in that area and can look around and/or possibly talk to people there and see what they know, please do. or if you know anything about it let us know by texting 503-741-7369. or messaging us right away. Thanks.

If you see animals that appear to be lost, and you are unable to get them, please note exact location, and take pictures if possible including some sort of marker to help rescuers find them. And if you post info please monitor the post to give helpers as much info as possible. You can also report to local LE.

We have rescued quite a few rabbits along the way, so thought I would share this important info.

Our groomer was recently at Rural King picking up supplies for her pet chickens when she spotted someone about to buy a baby angora bunny for their outdoor hutch.

She gently stepped in, explaining that angoras can’t regulate heat well, that it’s 95+ degrees, we’re in a heatwave, and that putting them outside would be deadly.

She even offered to shave the bunny for free to help it stay cool.

But the woman just smiled, nodded, and said, “Google says they’re fine outside.” Well, Google also says you can microwave socks to warm your feet. Doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

This is why farm stores selling rabbits is so dangerous. They don’t screen, they don’t educate, and they don’t care. A vulnerable baby rabbit, sold on a whim, destined to die of heatstroke because someone refuses to take rabbit ownership seriously.

This is why we exist. To protect the rabbits failed by farm stores.

Time and time again, we take in bunnies who were sold with no real education, no support, and no warning about how much care they actually need.

They arrive matted, malnourished, overheated, or abandoned all because someone thought a rabbit was easy or "just a starter pet."

So much of this is preventable. And it starts with stopping the sale of live animals where profit comes before welfare.

We're here for the rabbits. Always. Especially the ones everyone else failed.

6 month-old Petunia was found while actively having a miscarriage, and required emergency surgery to save her life. She was also severely malnourished. Petunia has some recovering and gaining weight to do, but she is a real sweetie pie who likes to stand on her back legs and hug you. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Petunia, please text us at 503-741-7369, or message us. Indoor only please.

Theo would like you to know that he desperately needs a hero to step up for him. Found awhile ago significantly underweight, flea and ear mite infested, severe skin allergies, and FIV positive, he has mostly recovered from his ailments, but retested still FIV positive. Theo came into rescue clearly traumatized from life as an unneutered, uncared for cat, and has some behavioral issues that may take time to resolve, such as spraying. (This can be somewhat managed we have found) Theo has very limited options right now and needs a special place to recover and heal. A home with no children or other pets, and ideally a catio would be best. Theo is very friendly and loves people, and likes laps and to just lay at your feet for long periods of time. He is currently living in a very small room and needs badly to move on to a better situation. If you can step up for Theo, either as a foster or adopter please contact us at 503-741-7369 VIA text only. Thanks for reading and sharing.
