‼️‼️Pleaseee‼️‼️ We are BEGGINGGGG someone to give this sweet guy a chance!! He is still in boarding and its killing us financially. 😭😭
Kai originally came from PG County where he was out of time and going to be euthanized. We were able to save him at the last second and now he just needs to find a forever home! He has been in boarding for a couple months and we just can't afford it anymore 😪. We currently owe about $1800 for his boarding.

Kai is only 1 yr old.
He is neutered and up to date on all of his shots.
We originally thought he needed to be the only pet but we now think he would be okay with another playful pup (which will require a meet and greet or two)
He is a sweet, loveable, goofball! He has a bit of energy but he also entertains himself with his toys. He is such a great dog and we know his family is out there somewhere!!

We have more good news to share this week. Not only did our other fospice pup Vira get adopted yesterday but guess what!?!?.... We are crying happy tears for Miss Lucy because she was adopted today as well 🥹🎊💕🎉 Lucy is a super senior girl we pulled from Morgan County West Virginia Animal Control a couple weeks ago and let me tell you all... she is so perfect! She is the absolute sweetest babe and she fit right in with her new dog an cat siblings like shes live there for years!
Surprisingly Lucy is healthier than we all anticipated. We got her bloodwork results back and they are the best I've seen in a long time, we were shocked.
The foster told me from day one that she doesn't believe in only fostering dogs until they past. She wanted to adopt her regardless of her health because every dog deserves a real home before they cross the rainbow bridge 😭😭. We aren't quite sure how long Lucy has left but we do know a few things.... Lucy is happy with her new fur siblings, she is a big couch potato, and Lucy now has a REAL home until the end 💕

I want to take a second to thank both Carol (Vira's adopter) and Sue (Lucy's adopter), from the bottom of my heart, for giving these girls a chance to live out the rest of their golden years in your homes. It takes a VERY special person to adopt a senior pup, especially ones with diagnosed health issues and I appreciate and respect you both more than I can ever say!!

We have a very special announcement to make, one I didn't think was going to happen but here we are....🎊🎉
Miss Vira was officially adopted today 😭💕

Backstory:
Vira was from a backyard breeder who decided to get rid of her and three other doodle females that he bred over and over for their entire lives. They lived outside in a shed and had minimal interactions with people but loved each other. When I showed up to just "look at the dogs", I ended up taking the 3 females home with me that day. Thankfully two other rescues helped by each taking one of them and I kept Vira because she had huge mammary tumors and we knew it would be costly. The tumors were removed and unfortunately the results came back showing they were cancerous and the vet wasn't quite sure if they got clear margins or not. Vira is 9 yrs old and I was not about to put a 9 yr old dog through chemo (also her fur wouldve fallen out because doodles have more hairlike fur) so we opted to put her on a low dose of carprofen and some turkey tail mushroom powder. The oncologist said without chemo the chances of her cancer coming back before the 6 month mark increases significantly so we were planning on her foster just being a hospice foster for Vira. But I guess Vira had other plans because it's been 5 months since we pulled her into rescue and she is doing amazing so far! After a couple weeks of fostering, her new owner said she wasn't going anywhere and that was her home.... A perfect fit for Vira... a home where she can do what she wants, with no expectations of giving anything in return, no more puppies, no more living outside.... just a home where she's loved and happy... and that's exactly what this sweet girl deserves!!

Sometimes you have to go right to the source 😂

Koa is still looking for his forever home. Unfortunately the last home he was supposed to go to just wasnt a good fit for him. The more I thought about putting him into a situation that might not work out for him, the more I just told myself to trust my gut and pick another home. The family was great, just not the right fit for Koa and sometimes that happens. They were very understanding and knew it was what was best for him. So here we are, searching for the right fit!
Koa is the sweetest boy! He's a big love bug and loves to snuggle. He is also super playful with Louie (8 yr old male) and Zaya (4yr old female). They chew on bones and toys all day long and snuggle with each other too!
Koa is missing his right eye from a train accident a few months ago but that doesn't slow him down at all!!
I would also say he is definitely kid friendly (we have been working on him not jumping and he is much better with that now). I'm not sure how he is with cats.

‼️Abandoned dog intake‼️

Everyone welcome Honey to the ATWDR crew. This poor girl was abandoned in the middle of the aisle at Petsmart today 😭😭 We will be keeping her for a 5 day stray hold then she will be headed to the vet to get spayed and up to date on everything. Ughhh, we were not expecting to take on another dog right now but we will figure it out! One of the ladies that works at Petsmart was amazing enough to foster her so she has a soft place to sleep tonight and will not have to go to animal control.

This post is not about the loser that dumped her so all comments saying at least they dumped her at a safe place...blah blah will be deleted. There's no excuse for this at all.

With that being said this post is about Honey's new journey in life and I know it seems like we've been asking for a lot lately but we need help with this one. Please help us cover the cost of vetting for Honey 🥺. We are only able to continue to take urgent cases like this when we are able to get donations. I will always say yes if we have the money to do so. This poor girl didnt deserve this. I'm just thankful that nothing like this will ever happen to her again!

Momma is so sleepy. This is probably the first time she has been clean, fed, and feels safe enough to just sleep since she has had her pups. 🥺💕

Thank you Melissa Pollard for fostering and helping me save all 6 of these little beebs today 🥹💕 I appreciate you for always saying yes last minute and coming through for these pups when they need it!

Well we weren't expecting this right now but someone asked if we could take this Mom and five, 5 week old puppies that came from an Amish puppy mill 😪 Thankfully we have a wonderful foster who said yes immediately and we were able to say yes to taking them, thank you Melissa for fostering!!
With that being said welcome Momma and her little 5 beans to the ATWDR crew!
We will not be accepting applications just yet but we will post once pups are old enough to find homes! We know dad was a little mini poodle so these pups will be pretty small as adults (around 10lbs).

Right now, our shelters are overflowing with pitbulls and bully mixes. Many of these amazing dogs end up in overcrowded facilities because of backyard breeders and irresponsible dog owners, who have "accidental" litters.
Project Pitstop is here and we are hoping to change that!

✅ FREE microchip with lifetime registration

This program is 100% FREE for dog owners — no strings attached. That means more healthy, happy, dogs in loving homes… and fewer in shelters.

We are currently offering the program to pitties/bullies being adopted out from all three animal controls. We are hoping to open up applications to the public on Sept 8th pending funds!!

Arlow and Millie both had follow up appointments today!
Arlow got his splints changed. It was very exhausting for him as you can see lol he slept the whole way back! 😂
Millie had her elbow checked out and they gave her antibiotics to clear any infection so hopefully the spot on her elbow heals quickly now! Millie is so sweet, every time someone was walking in, she got excited like she knew them lol

We are having a fall event on Sept 21st and are still looking for vendors and food trucks, fee is $25 and there's plenty of space! Vendors do not have to sell dog items. Last year's event had a great turnout and we didn't even have vendors so I'm anticipating this year's event to be even more successful!
