As many people know, we are currently in a massive cat overpopulation crisis. Ensuring your cat is spayed or neutered is not only beneficial for the reasons listed above, but it is truly the only way to prevent the overpopulation from worsening. In recent years, the amount of cats entering the nation’s shelters has increased and as a result euthanasia rates have risen.
New Jersey alone is estimated to have 1.3 to 2 million stray or feral cats, which is in addition to owned cats. Despite many people believing that there are adoptive homes for all of the many cats in shelters, and unborn kittens, NJ is ranked third lowest in the nation for cat ownership.
