I did not expect this show to have the impact on me that it has.

I saw Kinky Boots on Broadway years ago and tbh I was like “eh” about it as a show. But right now, at this moment in time and in my life, it hits completely fu***ng differently.

In the face of drag bans across the country & and a government that is about to be largely republican, this show is no longer just a fun romp- it is a battle cry.

A declaration of truth, of pride- a statement to the world that we as q***r people have always been here- and we will not be going anywhere. That the more you learn to accept, love, & honor the inner truths of others- the more you will learn to accept, love, & honor your own.

While always a beautiful and powerful song, Lola’s act II ballad “Hold Me In Your Heart” now rings similar more like Sally Bowles’ “Cabaret”. It is a haunting plea for acceptance in the face of a world that has decided that soon, it wants your destruction- and a declaration that even if you don’t accept me- I will never stop being who I am until the very end.

And this show is also full of pure q***r joy, which I think the world needs a whole lot more of right now.

It showcases how beautiful and magical anyone’s world can become, once you let it become, well, a little bit gayer, and how our hatreds of others are often rooted in our own insecurities- and when we learn to love and accept each other- we also learn to love and accept ourselves.

And that’s not even to mention how wonderful this particular production at is. I don’t know if anyone from this show even follows me on here yet, but this production is fantastic. It’s truly what I needed right now, and I’m sure a lot of you probably will feel the same. There is so much pure heart in this show.

The leads are absolutely exceptional and have some of the best voices I’ve ever heard in my life, but I have to give a particular shoutout to the fantastic ensemble, each of whom have created these super distinct and interesting characters with their own sense of humor and vibes and it is truly a joy to watch.

Come out to see this one if you can. I feel like it’s kind of exactly what the world needs right now.

Unbelievably proud of these guys. Tyler and Kyle, It’s been amazing watching you grow from little baby high school freshman into grown artist people and these videos are pretty fu***ng awesome.

If you have a few minutes, please check out Kyle’s new song & video. He’s one of the most talented performers I know.

While you’re at it, check out Tyler’s mini series , starring Kyle and production designed by another good friend of mine .

They did some great work on it, & theatre ppl if u ever need someone to stage manage or design props or something for ya Jason’s ur guy.
