Adopt, foster, donate, volunteer 🐶♥🐱 Our Mission: City Dogs & City Kitties rescues adoptable dogs and cats in overcrowded and high-kill shelters, where resources are severely limited. We offer a lifeline to as many of these wonderful animals as possible. Sadly, many of the dogs and cats that we take in are just days — and sometimes hours — away from being euthanized for no reason other than lack

of space. By finding these animals permanent and loving homes in the DC metropolitan area, we can enrich lives of humans and their pets. We welcome your help in any capacity, through volunteering, fostering, adopting, sponsoring and/or donating.

💫 They named her Venus and honestly it fits, because this cat fully believes she should be orbiting a human at all times. 💫

She’s not shy. Not hesitant. Not slow to adjust. She walked into foster and immediately started acting like she'd always been there. Eating, playing, and actively seeking pets from day one.

What makes her stand out (besides her good looks) is how present she is with people. She watches the room like she’s waiting for her favorite human to appear, and when you do? She’s instantly there, climbing into your lap like she’s been waiting all day for that exact moment...and she probably has.

And if you stop petting her too soon, she will let you know. Not loudly. Just… persistently.

I am Barkley, writing to express my strong interest in the open position of Resident Good Boy in your household.

I have successfully completed 10 years of life experience, specializing in enthusiastic wiggling dances, efficient treat retrieval, and playful energy advancement. Despite what my age metrics may imply, I am still very much in my prime. I offer the wisdom of a senior dog with the active energy of a much younger pup.

I am fully certified in House Training and rapidly becoming an expert in the field of Crate Comfort. I am highly professional with peer dogs and love a good playtime brainstorming session. I admit that my forward progress on walks occasionally exceeds leash parameters. To alleviate this, I have purchased a stylish new harness. It corrects my trajectory while maximizing my aesthetic branding.

I am currently looking to transition into a permanent, full-time role where I can head two major departments: Emotional Support Operations and Couch Security Quality Control. I require a compensation package consisting of premium kibble, head scratches, and a competitive chew toy benefits package.

We made the mistake of telling Rocco he still doesn't have any applications! 😭

Rocco is usually the smiliest, happiest guy! But he pulled his sad eyes out when he learend that even after spending hours on his dating profile, nobody has Swiped Right on him.

Rocco is the most deserving dog, and two years is too long for him to have to wait for unconditional love.
