Although we are small in size we are big on ideals, as Caring for Cats is the only local re-homing organisation that ensures EVERY cat and kitten passes through a unique “7 Step Health Check” ....

1. Blood Testing
We screen for two diseases that are fatal to cats – FIV and Feline Leukaemia, which can pass from mother to kitten or between adults that fight or mate. This blood testing is ess

ential as it is the basis for the cat's future health and well-being.
2. Vet Check
Our vets give each animal a thorough physical examination and carry out any advised treatments – irrespective of the cost.
3. Vaccinations
We vaccinate against four diseases: cat flu, feline panleucopenia, feline enteritis & feline leukaemia. All cats will have had both their primary and booster vaccinations prior to rehoming.
4. Treatments for Parasites
All animals are regularly treated against fleas and worms using effective products
5. Micro-chipping
All animals are micro-chipped which will be transferred into your name on adoption.
6. Neutering
All adult cats are neutered on entering the charity; if not yet 4-5 months, kittens will be neutered at that age by returning them to any Swanbridge or Battle Flatts practice.
7. FREE Insurance
Receive 4 weeks’ FREE PetPlan insurance on the day of adoption, which we strongly recommend you continue, but you are under no obligation to. The cost of all these treatments would be at least £180 on the high street, yet the minimum donation we ask is only £85 - applicable to all cats and kittens equally.

💛 Meet TaTac: Looking for His Forever Human

TaTac is a 9‑year‑old chatty sweetheart who loves his favourite people deeply — but he needs a very specific kind of home.

🌿 His Needs
- Allergies: TaTac requires special paper litter to keep him comfortable and healthy.
- Pet‑free home: He absolutely cannot live with other cats or animals.
- Adult‑only household: He thrives best with adults who understand feline body language.
- Experienced owner: Someone patient, observant, and confident around cats who sometimes need space.

💬 His Personality
Most of the time, TaTac is a loving, affectionate boy who adores human company. He’ll follow you around, chat about his day, and curl up nearby just to be close.

But like many sensitive souls, he has moments when the world feels a bit too much. When he’s upset or overstimulated, he can give a nasty nip — not out of malice, but because he struggles to cope.
He needs someone who can read his signals, respect his boundaries, and give him the reassurance and structure he’s been missing. In return, he’ll give you loyalty, companionship, and the kind of bond that only forms when a cat finally feels understood.

If you’re a confident, patient cat lover who understands sensitive souls, TaTac could be your perfect match. He’s ready to bond with someone who truly gets him.

Be a Morning Hero: Volunteer as a Cat Carer

Imagine starting your day with purrs and head-butts! At Caring for Cats, we rely on compassionate volunteers to ensure our cats receive the best possible start every morning. Right now, we have an urgent need for dedicated Friday morning cat carers.

The Role: More Than Just Cleaning

Your shift, which takes a few hours, is vital for the health and happiness of our cats. You'll be the one who sets the tone for their day!

Health & Hygiene: You'll clean and refresh their enclosures, making sure their living space is spotless and safe. This includes cleaning litter boxes and refreshing bedding.

Nourishment: You'll be in charge of preparing and serving their morning meals, ensuring everyone gets the right food and water.

Socialisation: Most importantly, you'll provide much-needed playtime, cuddles, and attention. This human interaction is crucial for their mental well-being and helps them get ready for their forever homes.

Who We're Looking For:

Someone reliable and responsible.

A genuine cat lover who isn't afraid of a little elbow grease!

Anyone who can commit to a regular morning slot, even just one day a week.

Ready to make a tangible, paws-itive impact?

Please email us at [email protected] or call 01430 872612 to sign up!

A huge thank you to The Acorns for the grant to Caring for Cats Yorkshire and Humber. Our open day was a lot easier with the new folding tables instead of the heavy ones we have been using. The gazebos will be used as well. Thank you again from the cats x

A huge thank you to everyone who supported us on our last summer open day on Sunday!

We raised an amazing £890 (and over £900 at the previous open day on 10th August)! This money will make a huge impact on the lives of the cats in our care, and we are grateful to our supporters and volunteers who donate time and/or money to help make this happen.

Don't forget, we'll be having another open day on 16th November - Christmas themed of course! So pop it in your diary and come and get some festive treats, as well as your usual open day goodies 😻

Are you a cat lover with some time to spare? Caring for Cats is a non-profit organisation dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats in need, and we're currently in urgent need of more helping hands to continue our mission.

You don't need any special skills—just a compassionate heart, a willingness to help, and a few hours a week to spare.

Spend time at our shelter helping with essential tasks like feeding, cleaning litter boxes, and refreshing water. You'll also get to spend quality time playing with and socialising our cats, which is crucial for their well-being.

We would be thrilled to have you as part of our team. Your help will directly improve the lives of the cats in our care, giving them a better chance at finding a loving home.

Ready to make a difference? Visit our website at https://www.caring4cats.org/ways-to-help/volunteer-with-us/ to fill out a volunteer application. You can also contact us on 01430 872612 with any questions.

We have had two bikes kindly donated to the charity to help raise some funds. Both bikes need a little bit of TLC but could be a rewarding project. They are available for £20 each.

The bikes are down at the homing centre. If you would like to take a look please call 01430 872612 to arrange to visit.

This charming boy absolutely adores a good scratch behind the ears and will happily roll around on the floor to show his contentment.

When it’s playtime, Luciano is all in, especially when a feather toy is involved! Afterwards, you’ll likely find him happily sunbathing on a warm windowsill.

Luciano has a cheeky personality and loves a good cuddle, but he’s also a cat who knows his own mind. He’ll let you know when he’s had enough affection with a gentle nip, so it’s important to respect his boundaries.

If you’re ready to open your home to a fun-loving cat with plenty of character, come and meet Luciano!

Luciano takes a daily urinary medication which is simply sprinkled onto his food. He is available to be permanently re-homed or a long-term foster would be considered.
