I’m selling my aluminum “Kustom Krate” dog crates and storage/gun drawers shown in the photos below. Also attached is the original invoice including detailed dimensions/specs and the manufacturers website for additional details. The crates are latched solidly to the storage drawer for easy removal and cleaning, feature non skid coating on inside, lockable doors/drawers. Each crate has a leash hook and removable water pale which inserts into a built in holder. They are exceptionally well made, spent their entire life in my Sequoia and in like new condition. Please pass along to anyone interested.

The 2018 Annual meeting and election of officers was held on June 9, 2018 at Fall Creek Falls Kennels 88 Cajun Hills Drive, Spencer Tn.

The meeting was called to order at 12:35 PM CST by Bill Barber

In attendance was Frank Hanwright, Bill Barber, Greg Gray, Deanna Gray and Lauri Thompson.

Minutes from last year were read and approved.

Bill Barber provided a treasurers report. All current liabilities are paid in full. All monies received are deposited, and the club is in sound financial condition. Annual liability insurance premium of approximately $650 will be due this summer.

A motion was made and duly seconded to maintain the current panel of officers and board members
Serving for the 2018-2019 season are
President: Frank Hanwright
Vice President: Greg Gray
Secretary / Treasurer: Bill Barber
Board Position 1: Jim Greving
Board Position 2: Lauri Thompson

Greg Gray was added as an authorized signer on the bank account.

Primary discussion centered around finding suitable grounds to be able to continue hosting Field Trials.
Because so many of the judges and handlers are now traveling in such large motorhomes and / or Horse trailers and be cause we have had such good success with our trials we have outgrown the current grounds for running the AKC walking filed trials.

Until suitable grounds are found, future field trial events are on hold, but we strongly encourage the membership to continue to utilize the Falls Creek Kennel grounds and take advantage of the wonderful property we have for dog training and other appropriate activities. As a reminder club membership allows access to approximately 200 acres of groomed training grounds which also has two ponds making summer time water training also available. Pigeons and / or Quall may periodically also be available for training. Continue to contact Frank Hanwright at (931) 946-2095 to schedule time on the training grounds.

The officers have determined that the top priority for the club is to find suitable grounds so we can resume hosting AKC walking field trials.
Below is the status of the various grounds we have or are in the process of evaluating.

Percy Priest - Due to the distance, the fact that two other clubs already hold trials here and other reasons we are no longer pursuing this property.

McGhee Carson WMA, near Vonore, TN - Greg Gray reported that this property is owned by the state of Tennessee as part of the Fort Loudoun State Historic Park and managed by the TWRA. Several clubs use the property for field trials (beagle club, Quail forever) and we could request use of the property. However, there is no overnight camping, and Greg Gray reports that it would be every bit as difficult for the large rigs to access the parking area as our current location. A Privately run campground is approximately 3 miles down the road, but the campground is closed at the time we host our field trials and it is unknown if they would entertain us during October or May. These grounds would be ideal for Hunt Tests as long as no large rigs or overnight camping was required.

Bendabout Farms and Polo Club between Ooltewah and Cleveland, TN - Roy Williams has made initial contact and has determined that the management would be willing to discuss the possibility of allowing us to host our trials on this property. They have already stipulated that we would need to host our trials AFTER their put and take hunting season which would mean we would likely need to hold our trials in February, March or April and would likely need to forgo our fall trial. We anticipate that a fee may be involved but this appears to be a very promising lead.

Dunaway Hunting and Fishing Club, Dunlap TN - Laurie Thompson advised that this property may be a possibility which we will explore.

Triple S Quail Farm was also discussed, but apparently not available.

Once suitable grounds are located we need to really encourage membership participation to be able to host the field trials.

On a separate note the idea of hosting Hunt Tests in addition to and/or in lieu of Field trials was discussed. On the up side, it might be easier to find suitable grounds and we may even possibly be able to use our Spencer, TN property. If we are going to pursue this we would need to have a strong interest from the membership and would need a point person to act as event secretary and event organizer. It should also be noted for the record that the club had previously purchased a supply of AKC sanctioned Hunt Test rosettes in adequate quantity for a Hunt Test. These are now in Greg Gray's possession. So if any of you are interested in seeing the club hold hunt tests, let us know and your availability to be on the event committee

Just a reminder to everyone that we will be holding our annual meeting at Falls Creek Kennels, Spencer, TN starting around noon central time, next Saturday, June 2, 2018. The main purpose of the meeting is to elect Officers and board members, but to also plan our events and activities for the 2018-19 season.

As most of you know the club is seeking new grounds on which to hold our Field Trials. While Falls Creek Kennel Grounds continues to be available for training, the grounds are just not suitable for handling the numerous big Horse Trailer Rigs that are prevalent even our Walking Field Trials. And since the AKC will not allow judges to handle from ATV’s or Golf Carts (even for walking trials!) we must find grounds that can accommodate the big rigs. Lundgren, AKC Vice President of Sports and Events didn’t have the courtesy to even acknowledge our letter formally requesting a change for walking trials only. Since the meeting this year will be of particular significance as we determine the future direction of the club we hope to see as many of you as possible.

For next year, the following positions will need to be filled:
President (Currently Frank Hanwright)
Vice President (Greg Gray)
Secretary Treasurer (Bill Barber)
Laurie Thompson’s 1 year term Board Position expires this year
Jim Grieving's 2 year Board Position expires in June of 2019

If any of you would be willing to serve as an officer or board member, please let me know prior to the meeting.

On April 14 and 15 the Greater Indianapolis Brittany Club and the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Indiana will each be running a Hunt test. This will give you 4 opportunities to run your dog in a Hunt Test in one weekend. I ran Stormy there last year. Great clubs, great grounds, great facilities and well run hunt tests. Contact Mark Holzinger [email protected] or Brent Becker [email protected]. Either of them can probably give you all 4 premiums for the 4 tests.

Given the cancellation of our March Field Trial, a number you have inquired as to whether we still have access to Frank's Grounds for Training. The answer is absolutely yes! In fact just last Friday, Frank mentioned his hopes that more members would make use of the grounds for that very purpose. He has plenty of pigeons and quail are available as well... All he asks is that we just give him a call @931 256 5146 to set up a time. The reason for cancelling the Spring Trial was due to problems with handling all the big horse trailer rigs required by judges at AKC trials. Since the AKC won't allow judging from mechanized vehicles, we are searching for alternative grounds that can accomodate the big rigs.

After considerable discussion the officers and board have decided to cancel our Spring March 2018 AKC Field Trial. The reasons for this decision primarily centers around....

1. The fact that the Falls Creek Kennel Grounds were never intended to handle the 40-50' Big Rigs brought in by Judges hauling horses required by the AKC....As most of you are aware, several of these big rigs had difficulties at our last couple of trials... fortunately, nothing we weren't able to overcome, but it could have been much worse.

2. Limited resources available to handle the amount of work required to successfully hold a first class event attracting participants from across the entire South and Midwest...While, we appreciate very much the fact that many of you have stepped up to assist either, as Judges or in various other capacities at our events, our active membership has declined to a point where we just don't have the necessary resources.

While the possibility exists to secure dates at Percy Priest in La Vergne, TN, which would address big rig issues concerning the Falls Creek Kennel Grounds, and certainly eliminate the extensive amount of work associated with grooming the grounds, La Vergne is not in East TN and would add logistic complications making it problematic for many of us not living near La Vergne.

While the prospects for the club holding future AKC licensed trials will depend on our ability to address these two issues, we hope to continue to encourage members and their friends to use the Falls Creek Kennel grounds for training. We may even be able to organize regular training days where Frank will be available to provide training assistance.

On behalf of Frank, and the other officers and board members I want to personally thank all of you for your support and assistance over the years in helping make the club so successful.

Clarification

The Tennessee Pointing Dog Association is an AKC licensed Field Trial Club established in 2007 that is dedicated to the development and well being of pointing dogs (of all breeds) and their handlers that holds AKC licensed walking Field Trials in Tennessee. We are not a “pet service”.
