This is Mommy Malinda. The last 23 days have been a whirlwind. I just wanted everyone to know the Mommy Lori went to Rainbow Bridge at 6:03am on Saturday, May 20th. Beaker’s ashes were put in Mommy Lori’s casket so they could be together. Einstein and his brothers are hanging in there. Please keep us in your prayers.

Lori A. Smyth, a former broadcast promotions director and a co-founder of Show Your Soft Side, a anti-animal-abuse organization, died Saturday. She was 53.

Good morning. This is Mommy Malinda. Mommy Lori has been in the hospital for 17 days. She has been having lots of difficulties since she had her feeding put in last Monday. Mommy Lori’s oncologist said it was time for Mommy to go to Grandma’s house on hospice. Grandma said Einstein can come over and be with Mommy Lori. Please keep us in your prayers.

Hi friends -it’s me with a quick Mommy Lori update. Mommy is in the hospital. She is going to get a feeding tube. According to her doctor - her gut “needs a rest”. The muscles in her stomach are not working and she cannot pass anything. Her tube will by-pass her stomach and go directly to her small intestine. That way she will get nourishment. Right now she is throwing up even ice chips. Her procedure will probably take place on Tuesday. So Mommy Malinda is holding down the fort and caring for my brothers and me. I will let you know how mommy’s procedure goes a little later in the week. Hugs & licks.

Hi everybody. I know I have been missing for a little while. Just wanted you to know that everything is ok. By now I think you’ve all seen the exploding bed incident. I survived and the mommies actually think the bed can be repaired.

I have been missing because Mommy Lori has not felt well. She had an endoscopy last week and they found some yucky stuff going on in your tummy. It’s not cancer - so that’s good. But Mommy is now on a liquid diet. Real food makes her 🤮. Of course, my brothers and I are doing all that we can to help her feel better. Lots of naps & snuggles. Mommy has lost about 20 lbs. Her cancer doctor doesn’t want to treat her right now, until her stomach is better. The stomach problems were caused by her cancer treatment- so she is on a break.

This puppy is on serious Mommy Lori detail. Mommy is having stomach issues. She doesn’t want to eat and if she does - 🤮 an hour later. She has lost about 20 lbs. She is working with her oncologist to try different anti-nausea medication. She also gets something stuck down her throat soon to see if she has radiation gastritis. That could explain a lot - including her anemia. So while she sleeps on the sofa my brothers and I snuggle with her. Regis also follows Mommy into the bathroom every time she has to 🤮. We are doing our best.

I am so glad that Mommy Lori is home and feeling better. Today is a snuggle day - and NCAA basketball. (Did you see the #16 upset?) Later this week Mommy has an iron infusion scheduled to try to bring up her hemoglobin numbers. Then on Wednesday she has some imaging to see how her most recent procedure worked. Paws crossed!!!! In the meantime, my brothers and I are so glad to have Mommy back home and snuggling with us.

This is me sitting waiting for Mommy Lori to come home. She is currently staying with grandma following her procedure. I have been told that she is doing better and she misses my brothers and me. She is currently sleeping a lot and grandma is trying to feed her - but Mommy wants no parts of it. Mommy will come home later in the week when she is more sturdy and can deal with my 70lb brother - Chewy. Thanks for checking in! (‘’’) (‘’’)

Happy Friday!! Here I am sleeping next to Mommy Lori. My brothers and I have been on high alert. Mommy was supposed to get a procedure done on Valentine’s Day, but her blood levels were too low. Instead she had a blood transfusion. Her new procedure date is this Tuesday. Mommy is still worn out and she is not eating much. Her oncologist says that she needs a break so that her body can recover from her radiation & chemo treatments. This procedure on Tuesday is called a TACE. The dogtor will go through the main artery in Mommy’s groin and deposit chemo pellets directly on the tumors in her liver. Then a few weeks later, she will get an ablation to zap those tumors and burn them. In the meantime, there is a lot of snuggling and napping going on.
