Tortoise friends, we have an amazing deal for you!!!

This enclosure housed our 50'lb sulcatta tortoise over the winter, but he is outgrown it and is upgraded to a much larger area now. We would love to see this go to a new home to make another tortoise very happy.

Features include:
-PVC waterproof floor
-8'x4' footprint, 2' high plywood walls with 2"x4" framing
-Fold-down front ramp to allow tortoise free-roam opportunity
- 8 heavy-duty wheels for easy mobility
- Light bar strip with 4' T5 UVB, 4' LED bar, and 2 ceramic socket heat lamp holders with 6-port power strip.

Exterior of enclosure is a little rough, but would probably look great with a fresh coat of paint. Needs a good scrubbing to the interior. Foam on one corner was meant to protect shins since it sat in a high-traffic area (can be removed at request)
VERY STURDY and HEAVY. Excellent enclosure for a small-medium sulcata or pair of redfoot tortoises. Could also be used for guinea pigs, rabbits, baby chicks, puppies, small children, whatever.

Asking $300 (which is far less than cost of materials alone add up to)
Proceeds from sale supports Mia's Menagerie & CROC

Bring a TRUCK OR CARGO VAN for transport. This will NOT fit in an SUV or minivan and is far to heavy to fit on a roof! Bring a couple strong adults to help lift/move it.

Located in North Haverhill, NH 03774 for curbside pickup only. Please look up where this is and be prepared for the drive before inquiring.

CASH or VENMO accepted.

One of our favorite places to visit to learn about science, nature, and enjoy some light trail walking is the Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich Vermont. Despite a rather drizzly and cold weekend, we still managed to get out and about to explore, and even learned some cool new things along the way!

Happy World Turtle Day!
This little mud turtle, along with two river cooters was recently brought to Mia's Menagerie & CROC after being relinquished to the Vermont Fish & Wildlife department. Although this little cutie was most likely captive-bred this species is illegal to keep in Vermont without a permit.
Road mortality and habitat loss are major threats to wild turtle populations, but another huge problem turtles face is illegal poaching for the pet trade and use in traditional medicine. You can help turtles by NEVER taking wild turtles home, researching turtle care before considering one as a pet, and supporting your local turtle rescue by donating or adopting a turtle in need.

On Wednesday, May 7th, we said goodbye to our companion "Juno" after a rapid decline in health due to multiple complications caused by cancer.

Juno came to me in July of 2012 as a small barn kitten who had sustained a traumatic eye injury. We often joked about her being a bit of a buffoon and imagined her narrations would sound a bit like Winnie the Pooh. Of all the creatures in our home she was the most loving. We sometimes referred to her as the “momma cat” because she so desperately wanted to nurture the younger ones and was always by my daughters side when she was an infant. Juno's favorite place to lounge was the middle of the couch where she would lure you in for belly rubs with her loud steady purring. For whatever reason her fur always smelled like spring flowers.

Her peaceful and gentle presence in our home will be very much missed.

Our coop security guard was taking his duties very seriously today. That is, until he decided to go for a walkabout and visit the neighbors. Fortunately he didn’t get too far, but it was a good reminder that it’s definitely time to get the outdoor tortoise pen reassembled for the season to prevent any further unintended adventures.

The Journey of C.R.O.C.

For more than 10 years I have been an advocate for responsible pet care, and the welfare of captive reptiles and other exotic animals. As a pet owner, I had been in situations where resources and knowledge about these animals was limited, I felt a need to provide that resource where there were none available. In 2011 I established one of NH’s only 501c3 nonprofit animal shelters dedicated to the care of reptiles and have helped to rescue and rehabilitate hundreds of animals out of my home, while providing educational outreach programs to inspire many people to love and appreciate these often misunderstood creatures. In 2017 the birth of my daughter brought new and wonderful changes to my life, but has proven a significant challenge on my ability to continue to manage and operate a nonprofit out of my home. It has become obvious that while I had hope to be the force to drive further growth of what I started, it is really time to “pass the torch” on to a new set of volunteers and members who will take the organization where it needs to go and see it reach its full potential.

Regardless whether or not I am involved in a nonprofit, these animals have always held a special place in my life and everything I have done. As our world struggles to cope with environmental catastrophes and we separate ourselves further from the natural world, the need for responsible advocates is significant, and because of this I will continue to be involved in every capacity I can manage. It is my hope that through C.R.O.C. I can continue to be a voice, and promote the responsible care of pets and ethical animal welfare practices for the creatures that are so often dismissed, while still finding a balance with its place in my personal and family life.

C.R.O.C. is not a nonprofit organization, but proceeds raised through the programs I offer continue to serve the needs of the animals, ensuring they receive the best possible care and help to cover my costs to maintain my licensing and insurance as a professional educator. It is my hope that I can continue to provide opportunities for members of the community to be inspired to care for wildlife and our natural world through up-close encounters and visits with these unique creatures.
