Lymes Disease

At the beginning of the week I noticed a bite on my inner thigh. I didnt think anything of it until Friday lunch time, when I noticed a bulls eye rash appear. I've had lymes disease before, so I took a picture straight away, as I know they can change quickly. I carried on working, and then called 111 for advise. By this time it was starting to go red but I could still see the ring. This was only a few hours after. I had also been ill with UTI symptoms for a few days before this, and was sooo tired and thought it was worse than usual for a UTI. Its the kind of tiredness where just having a shower exhausts you. I saw a Dr and showed her the picture. By this time the bite was just red and was warm to the touch. She said if she had just looked at my leg, as it was now, she would of just said it was a normal bite. But looking at the picture she could see it was a bulls eye rash which is a symptom of lymes disease. So I was put on a 21 day course of antibiotics. So again (as I had this in 2022 on my arm) I want to raise awareness. This marking changed so quickly and could of easily been missed. But having lymes disease and leaving it untreated can cause life changing symptoms! Not everyone gets this rash either. So if you have any other symptoms of Lymes after a bite, then get some advise. I didn't see what bit me either time I've had this.

I have been feeling really ill the last few days and by the afternoon, I have to go back to bed as the fatigue is so extreme. I'm sorry to anyone I've had to cancel. I hate doing it, but I need to rest. I'm hoping the antibiotics will start working soon and I can be back to feeling my normal self and I'll get you booked back in soon! โ™ฅ๏ธ

๐ŸŒž Grooming in the heat ๐ŸŒž

I have a portable air con machine in my groom room. But if the temps get too high, it doesn't work as effectively, so I may need to rearrange dogs.
If I ever feel my groom room is too warm, I will rearrange grooms.

๐Ÿถ If you feel your dog will not cope coming out the house, and being groomed in the hot weather, please contact me. You know your dog best

๐Ÿถ Please do not walk your dog before or to the grooming appointment, when it is too hot. If you have no means of transport, please contact me.

๐Ÿถ A lot of dogs won't drink while they are with me, so please give them water when they get home.

Any questions, just ask ๐Ÿ˜Š

My Story...

As a big lover of dogs, and some inspiration from my cockapoo, Lacie, I decided that I was going to study dog grooming. After completing my City and Guilds Level 2 (November 2018), I decided that going to college just wasnโ€™t enough! I wanted to be doing this everyday! So after lots of planning, I decided to work from home. I started Happy Paws by Jemma in December 2018. I started off only bathing and drying dogs. This gave me lots of extra experience as well as meeting lots of new people and dogs! I then went back to college to complete my City and Guilds Level 3 diploma in dog grooming in January 2019. After grooming lots of dogs, completing 4 practical exams and one theory exam... I have now finished!! :)

Thank you to all my customers so far, you have all been the best support network! I look forward to seeing you again soon and meeting new owners and dogs.
