Add hedgehogs to schedule 5 of the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 to give them greater protection and help save the species from total extinction. We think hedgehogs should be given the same level of protection as other British Wildlife.

Cool dark dry, sometimes easier said than done. Years back I rented a container. A metal box in full sun most of the day. An absolute sweat box. I requested the roof be covered in pallets, the sides likewise. This provided a second skin, the sun then only hitting a tiny portion of the metal sides / roof. It was however still hotter than I'd like inside. So, everything was on pallets. Surrounded by cardboard,at the bottom & all sides. The tops of my feed I covered in layers of cardboard. Any tubbed or bagged supplements, were stored within boxes, off the floor. The box lids closed. It made a mahoosive difference, keeping the Feed cool.

OK... Not the best picture & this is enhanced by my phone (no flash, taken at twilight).... Vinny built a Hoggie House a loooong time ago. Today we did some garden renovation & tonight, we found the house OCCUPIED!!!!!!!!! We have a resident 🦔.. Who popped out, had a wander then head up the Hedgehog highway (between our garage & neighbours fence), out for the night...😍😍

Last night, 9pm, it was still 27°c. I saw LOADS of dog walkers out & about. The dog owners feet were covered with shoes or trainers etc... PLEASE if you cannot stand barefoot on tarmac or pavements, do NOT expect your dog to. Take off a shoe & test the floor outside, BEFORE you lead up your dog. If it's too hot for YOUR OWN FEET. Put the dog in the car. Drive somewhere, to a woods or atleast to a grassy area / dirt track. These will be far cooler at this time. If this is not a feasible option... Stay home?
