Y’all really showed up on our last license plate post — 50 new signups! That’s incredible!!!

Now we’re only 110 registrations away ( meaning we have 890 sign ups) from seeing this amazing plate rolling down highways and back roads all across Tennessee. We’re so close we can see the finish line!

‼️‼️If you’ve been thinking, “I’ll sign up tomorrow,” this is your sign — now is the time. We truly need you to help carry us across that final stretch. ‼️‼️

Happy Hump Day from Tennessee Dachshund Rescue, where the humps are low, the bodies are long, and the attitudes are strong.

Our dachshunds are halfway through the week just like you, running on snacks, side-eyes, and pure determination.

Some are working hard on naps. Others are perfecting their “I didn’t do it” face. All are professionals at stretching one task into a full-day event.

If you need a little motivation to get through today, just remember that Short legs equal big dreams, Snacks fix everything and It’s okay to rest dramatically.

Hang in there, friends. Friday is coming, eventually.

More Happy Tails, because apparently we’re not easing into the New Year.

We closed out the year with Lawrence getting adopted, which already had us feeling pretty good. And Then, We started the New Year off with a bang!!

On New Year’s Day, Drumstick and Violet both found their forever homes. Casual. No big deal. Just two adoptions to kick off the year.

And then… drumroll please…the moment that made us stop and just breathe for a second.

Corinne. With us since April. Months of waiting. Months of hoping. And yesterday, she was finally adopted.

We truly saved the best for last, and we could not be happier for her. This is why we do what we do. The long waits, the hard days, the tears behind the scenes, it’s all for moments like this!

Congratulations to the new fur parents, and happy tails to our weens! What a way to start the year!

New year, new you… same obsession with long dogs. Why don’t you make it official?

We’re only about 160 signups from hitting the 1,000 plates needed to go into production. That’s roughly the length of a dachshund and a half.
We are so close the weens are already practicing their victory barks.

Every signup helps Tennessee Dachshund Rescue save more dogs, and every yearly renewal keeps the tail-wagging going. One license plate. Endless attitude.

And let’s be real… wouldn’t you like to drive around with one of the best-looking license plates in Tennessee while quietly announcing your excellent taste?

Alright, trivia pros… it’s time to reveal the answers.

1). A-Badger Dog
Yes. Badgers. Actual badgers. These short little dogs were bred to crawl underground and pick arguments with animals much larger than themselves. Fearless. Questionable judgment. Very on brand.

2) A-Smooth coat
The smooth coat came first. Long-haired and wire-haired versions were added later for different climates and jobs. Because even tiny underground warriors need outfit options.

3) True
That deep chest isn’t just for dramatic sighs and heavy breathing when dinner is late. It was designed to hold extra lung capacity for digging and hunting underground. Function first. Drama came naturally.

4) True
Those long ears help trap and funnel scents straight to the nose while tracking. They also double as floor sweepers, water flingers, and crumb detectors. Multi-purpose excellence.

It’s National Motivation & Inspiration Day, and as this day wraps up, we’re reminded that motivation doesn’t have to be loud, it can be low to the ground with a lot of attitude.

Our inspiration shows up every day on short legs, with big personalities and an unshakable belief that tomorrow will be better and always involve snacks!

If a dachshund can come from hard beginnings, learn to trust again, and still end the day convinced they’re the boss, then that is all the inspiration we need.

And we are motivated to find Franklin the perfect only Furbaby home!

🍾 Happy New Year from Corinne and all of Us at TDR!🍾

As we reflect on the past year and step into a new one, we are incredibly thankful for all the lives we were able to change and all the happy endings along the way. None of this would have been possible without each and every one of you.

Our adopters, fosters, volunteers, and donors are the heart of this rescue. Without your compassion, dedication, and support, we simply couldn’t do the work that is so near and dear to our hearts.

This past year brought many successes, and yes, a few heartaches too. But even in the hardest moments, we got through them together, with tears, resilience, and all. And every life saved reminded us why this work matters.

As we look ahead to 2026, we’re excited to continue our mission of saving more long dogs and helping them find the perfect forever homes.

Thank you for always showing up, for believing in what we do, and for walking alongside us every step of the way.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year filled with hope, kindness, and the reminder that even small acts of love can change a life.

Happy Tails: Mickey 🐾
Some stories really do come full circle — and Mickey’s is one of them.

From one of our fosters:
Back in the fall of 2024, we fostered a sweet girl named Daisy, and her family fell completely in love and adopted her. After that, we took about a year off from fostering to travel. When we returned, Mickey was our very first foster — and almost immediately, Matt said, “He reminds me so much of Daisy.”
Turns out, he wasn’t wrong.
Just two weeks later, we got a message from TDR saying Daisy’s parents were interested in adopting Mickey. The timing, the connection, the familiarity — it all lined up perfectly. Mickey wasn’t just going to a home… he was going back to his people.
Now Mickey is officially adopted and right where he belongs, reunited with a family who already knew exactly how special he is. We couldn’t have written a better ending if we tried.
Congratulations to Mickey and his forever family — this one was truly meant to be. 💛

Introducing Bella — 12 years old, 10 pounds, and fully aware she runs the place.

Bella is a Senior Qween and she expects to be treated accordingly. She’s fun, quirky, loving, wiggly, curious, and frankly… perfect. Age has done nothing but refine her charm.
Despite being in her golden years, Bella is still very much employed in playtime. She loves a good game of fetch (soft toys only, please) and has curated a respectable toy collection she’s quite proud of. Retirement? She’s never heard of it!

Bella is also a serious foodie. Meals and snacks must be measured because she believes every bite is a blessing. She enjoys hiding her bones around the house and then dramatically “finding” them minutes later like it’s a personal triumph.

When not playing or eating, Bella is a professional snuggler. Laps, pillows, and couches layered with blankets are her natural habitat. Add sunshine and she becomes fully charged — yes, she is solar-powered and will nap wherever the light hits just right.

She enjoys walkies, walks nicely on a leash, and prefers a harness over a collar (fashion and function). She’s also a great car rider, but must be buckled in unless you’d like a tiny supervisor roaming the vehicle.

Bella is a social butterfly. She’s good with dogs big and small and would happily enjoy a doggy roommate or regular playdates — as long as she remains emotionally the main character.
Bella’s foster says she has been an absolute joy to know. She was raised with love, and she returns it tenfold — with a little sass, a lot of heart, and zero apologies.
