May the 4th be with you!

Now that I’ve got your attention, let’s talk lost pet signage.

If your pet is lost, putting up flyers is a great first step, but flyers do not replace neon posters. While it’s easy to print flyers at home, that means they’re typically 8.5x11” and on white paper. The most effective signs are LARGE, NEON, and SIMPLE. It’s natural to want to give as much information as possible, but people driving by can’t or won’t read signs with lots of words.

You can buy neon poster board just about anywhere, including the dollar store. Get a large chisel tipped waterproof marker (Sharpie Magnums are great!) and some sheet protectors for printed photos.

I’m posting a great guide in the comments for how to make the most effective posters. Even if you don’t have a lost pet, taking the time to read this could help save your pet’s life in the future.

Finding Hobie — A Drone vs. a Coyote

Hobie was a sweet senior pup who went missing and found herself in serious danger.

I saw Hobie on thermal in about 45 minutes, and then noticed something frightening: a coyote was stalking her and getting closer by the second.

I used the drone to chase the coyote away, ready to do whatever it took—even crashing the drone if I had to—to keep her safe.

Luckily, I was able to chase the coyote away long enough for Hobie's family to bring her home. She was finally safe, surrounded by love.

Sadly, Hobie passed away a few weeks later due to pre-existing medical issues. 💔 While we all wish she had more time, we take comfort in knowing she spent her final days at home, not alone in the wild.

This video is in her memory. 💕

⏱️Found in 88 Seconds: Chica’s Rescue Story 🛟

Chica is a 10-year-old border collie who gave her family the scare of their lives last month. On what started as a routine evening walk near their home, Chica was heard yelping in the distance. Her owner had a feeling she may have had an encounter with the local herd of elk. He located her lying on the ground, acting abnormally. He tried to pick her up, but in her injured and frightened state, she bolted into a swampy area, leaving her owners searching through the night, desperate to find her.

The next day, they contacted us. Equipped with our thermal drone, we located Chica in just 1 minute and 28 seconds—our fastest rescue yet! Thanks to this technology, we were able to reunite her with her family and ensure she got the care she needed.

While most searches aren't this fast, Chica is one for the books. Her case was a textbook example of how this technology can be incredibly useful. Her owners had searched the same wetland for over four hours the night before, and couldn't see her because of the treacherous terrain.

On this , you can help save more pets like Chica. Your tax-deductible donation helps cover technology costs, training, and resources that make these rapid rescues possible and affordable. Together, we can keep tails wagging and families whole.

🐾 Every second counts. Every donation helps! 🐾

Please remember to secure your pets during this upcoming storm. Take your dogs outside on a leash because fences can and do blow over. If you have indoor/outdoor cats, make sure they are kept inside.

We will not be available for drone searches until after the wind dies down.

This was a bittersweet case. On 9/21, Niko escaped home with his brother Kado. Two days later, Kado was found deceased on the train tracks nearby. We were contacted on 9/25, and came out the next morning determined to find Niko since his family had already experienced such a huge loss. With a little bit of luck, and some good information from his owners, we were able to locate him less than 17 minutes after takeoff! He was excited to see his owner, and came to him without issue. Seeing him coming down the driveway riding in the passenger seat of his owner's truck was such a huge relief 🐾❤️

There’s a lot of great information in this post! This video is exactly why it’s important to use calming signals and not call or chase your lost dog. 🐾🧭🐕
