In the interest of transparancy, here's Big Daddy with altered background. We agree that Spirir looked a little "off" but it was the best we could do, given her position.

BTW, Big Daddy is available for sponsoring. We trapped him, he'd been surviving by eating a cow carcass. He is going to be here for a while, but he does enjoy toys and treats.
The photo on the bottom right is from when we first got him.

One day, Spirit showed up by our horses. She wasn't bothering them, so we decided to keep an eye on her, just in case she didn't try to go back "home." She hung around, and seemed interested in us, but wouldn't let us get too close. We started leaving a bucket of water for her, which she appreciated. After a week or so, we set a humane trap, and caught her.
She still is not happy about being touched, but has made a few small steps, like sniffing us when we're feeding her.
If you'd like to sponsor Spirit, please use the link in the comments section below.
Thanks!

In case anyone is questioning our integrity, we changed the background on Spirit’s photo so it looked nicer. She is a real dog 👍🏽
Thanks for your support.

We're going to try starting something new for our long-term residents here at Dog Town.
This is Ms. Barkley, and her person passed away a couple of years ago. Our friend was able to get her to a vet for spay/vaccinations, but it was a huge challenge.
Since Ms. Barkley's person was an elderly gentleman, she didn't get out much and was never socialized. As you can see from the fur (on her back) we aren't able to even brush her safely.
Anyway, in the near future we'll be setting up a way to sponsor these dogs who will most likely be lifetime residents.
We'll also be sharing their stories.
Thanks for caring 🥰

Want to sponsor one of our long-term residents? We have several feral, neglected, and/or abused dogs that will be with us until they have regained trust in humans, and are ready for homes.
Sponsorship donations allow us to provide "extras" for these dogs, such as toys, treats, kennel upgrades, and other needs.
Please indicate which dog you'd like to sponsor, and thank you!

Help support Dog Town Animal Rescue by donating or sharing with your friends.

Jaxson passed last night, asleep in his comfy bed.
We took him in back in 2016, and he spent the majority of his life with us. He lived a good life here, with his own yard, shady trees, walks, and lots of love.

Born in 2011, Jaxson was just 5 years old when we got him, and he'd been a star here at the rescue ever since.
He was a very hard to adopt dog, as he definitely did not like other dogs, and was very cautious around strangers. He came from an abusive home, where both he and his person were abused, so he had learned at a young age to be suspicious.

Our old guy will be very much missed. We pride ourselves on saving the difficult to place dogs, because they all deserve love. Rest easy, big boy.
