Rose's Rescue

Rose's Rescue RR is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 organization. We primarily rescue dogs from local shelters and place them in foster homes until adopted.

Rose's Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit rescue made up of a small group of volunteers, and no paid employees. All of our funds come from donations. Our dogs are in area foster homes. We do not have a shelter per se and only under special circumstances are any of our animals "kenneled". With few exceptions, they are very well-socialized with people and other animals, which makes it much easier to know

their temperaments. We do not often take owner surrenders, but we occasionally do courtesy posts for pets that are vetted (fixed and current on vaccinations/heartworm care) and in need of homes. How it all began:
It all started when founder Rose Sachs answered an ad in the local classifieds that said they could help a person find homes for unwanted pets. Rose had recently moved to a rural setting with some acreage, and had subsequently acquired 4 or 5 dogs that had been dropped off or that she'd found abandoned and was trying to find new homes for them. It was 2001, and she ended up partnering with the person who placed the ad, calling themselves "New Leash on Life." After about a year, they went their separate ways, but Rose continued her work re-homing pets in need. She found a few other like-minded people to help her - just one or two at the start, and Rose's Rescue was born. It took several years to grow into something more than just basically a few foster homes, but by 2004 had become a relatively cohesive group with a more defined process and mission. On October 10th of 2006, Rose's Rescue was officially granted it's 501c3 status. Since, then, we have continued to grow with more volunteers, a more structured operation, and more dogs under our care, We utilize modern technology with the implementation of a large database system (through rescuegroups.org), our own website, active page and busy event calendar. We strive to not only help the dogs we have rescued, but also work to support our local pounds where there is a need we can address, (provide vet transport, help to defray vet costs, etc), and work with other rescues and shelters in our area for the benefit of dogs in our greater community.

Our little amputee Lynnie went to the vet today and got most of her stitches out, and she also got the green light to come out of confinement. She can now walk around freely and even do the few steps out to the yard and back, which she’s just about mastered already! There was one small section of her incision that the vet thought looked questionable, so she got a staple there and will go back in two weeks to have it removed. But all of the rest of the stitches - and there were a LOT of them - were able to come out. She’s now learning to maneuver around on the smooth floors in her foster home, and is enjoying having the freedom to finally join the rest of the household. No more limited usage or restrictions other than wearing her cone, which she’s gotten used to by now.
Just two weeks ago this dog, who had been on her own trying to survive since at least mid-July, was brought in to the Mahoning Pound. She was anemic, terribly emaciated, with a femur broken in two places and well as a fractured pelvis. Now she’s healing well, gaining weight, and will have a chance at a great life!
Rescue works! On behalf of Lynnie and all of the others we’ve cared for and will care for in the future, we thank you for your support! We couldn’t help any of them without you!!!

This sweet girl arrived yesterday from the pound in Youngstown.
It will be a very long time before she’s anywhere near ready to be adopted, but “Ice Cream” now called Lynnie, will get whatever she needs to heal while in our care. She’d been on the run for weeks, eluding all attempts at capture, but eventually was hit by a car and sustained multiple femur fractures plus one to her pelvis. They had to amputate the leg, and her pelvis will just need time. She’s also anemic and terribly, terribly thin. But everything has changed for her now. It will be a bit of an uphill climb for her, but we will be with her, helping her, loving her, and caring for her every single step of the way!
Welcome to Rose’s Resce Lynnie!
