Cheshire & Wain cat collars are designed and made by hand in London using supple, high quality leather. Each collar is lined with a soft suede for comfort and is fastened with a solid brass buckle for durability. Please note that for the cat's safety there is a breakaway buckle incorporated that is hidden from view when the collar is worn. Collars are made in small, limited edition batches in London. When choosing a collar for your cat, it’s not just about aesthetics - it’s about safety. That’s why all Cheshire & Wain collars are fitted with a breakaway buckle as standard.

A breakaway buckle is designed to release under pressure, allowing your cat to free themselves if their collar becomes caught on something. This simple mechanism can prevent serious injury - or worse.

While it might be tempting to opt for a fixed buckle for peace of mind that the collar will stay on, it’s never worth the risk. Cats are agile climbers and curious explorers, often venturing into tight spots or leaping to high places. A collar that doesn’t release in an emergency could be fatal.

We believe safety should never be compromised - and it should never come at the cost of beauty. Our breakaway buckles are discreet, reliable, and elegantly integrated into our collar designs, so your cat can look exquisite and stay protected.

💡 Tip: Always check your cat’s collar fits snugly but comfortably - you should be able to fit one to two fingers beneath it.

Meet Fulmer Zaida – the most valuable cat in the world 💎🐱

At a time when cats were only just beginning to claim their rightful place as cherished companions, Fulmer Zaida reigned supreme. A prize-winning Persian with an exquisite coat and aristocratic look, she wasn’t just admired – she was worth a fortune.

Her owner, Lady Decies, once received an astonishing offer of £1,100 for Zaida – the equivalent of over £130,000 today! But even that staggering sum wasn’t enough to part with her prized feline. However, Zaida’s beauty was so captivating that Lady Decies did allow her photograph to be used in an advertisement for Ogden ci******es.

So esteemed was Zaida that Louis Wain, the legendary cat artist, immortalised her in this gorgeous portrait – a testament to her prestige, elegance, and undeniable star quality.

Luna loves being brushed, especially around her neck and chin, which really makes her purr. She’s not a lap cat. She’s more independent than that. I think of her as my grey hunting panther, as she often (playfully) leaps out of nowhere at my feet while I walk. She’s at her most affectionate when I lie down in bed. This may look like ‘true love’ but it took over a year for Percy to accept Penelope. Percy was king of the household when Penelope joined us in 2019 so he was pretty cross about having to share his kingdom with another kitty!

Despite gradual introductions and following all the advice to a tee, it’s a complete gamble when you introduce a new cat to your family and it’s impossible to know if it will be love or hate. These days it’s quite common to see these two steal a quick snog together so it’s worlds away from the hissing and growling of their first encounters!
