Bay Area German Shepherd Dog Rescue

Bay Area German Shepherd Dog Rescue We love the dogs! See much more at www.bayareagsr.org If you're here you must love German Shepherd Dogs like we do!

They are loyal, intelligent and beautiful animals and it breaks our hearts to think of them suffering or dying in shelters, or worse yet, dumped on the street. We are a 100% all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue. We are funded through adoptions and donations from people just like you. Our hardworking and dedicated team is made up of GSD lovers who give up their time to care for and find loving

forever homes for the dogs in our program. The team has fostered and saved over 1,500 German Shepherd Dogs since we began in 2013! Most of our dogs come from shelters where they have been abandoned. Some come from owners who, no longer able to care for them, give their dog to us to find a loving forever home. The good news is that we encounter few dogs that we feel have been abused or seriously mistreated. Each dog that comes into our program is evaluated to the best of our ability. Our evaluators have many years of experience with the breed and have spent many hours learning dog behavior and language, worked with trainers, spent countless hours at shelters, etc. We strive to have dogs in our program that are people and dog friendly and we are firm believers in providing our adopters with full behavioral and medical disclosure on every dog in our program. Our dogs are placed in a foster home that is experienced with the breed or a daycare facility where they are evaluated for social skills with other dogs. Once we have spent some time getting to know each dog, we make the dog available for adoption. When you apply to adopt one of our dogs you will go through our adoption process where we learn more about you, your experience and your lifestyle. Our goal is to make a perfect match so our dogs stay with their new family and everyone is off to a good start. Many of our adopters decide to volunteer by fostering, fundraising, walking/grooming/transporting dogs or becoming matchmakers and helping more dogs find that perfect home. It’s a rewarding activity (no matter how big or small your role) that every rescue (and rescue dog) is grateful for. If you don't have the time to volunteer, you can donate. Every $ we receive goes back to the dogs as we have no paid staff. Thank you for visiting our page and thank you for caring!!

BAGSR Denali, rest in peace boy. There isn't enough room on this post to tell you how many people loved you and remember you when you were a wee pup in 2015. ❤️ you forever and the Kress family.

Bonnie & Clyde: From Jailbreak to Joyride!
These two cuties were totally shut down in the shelter, scared and out of hope... until First Class Foster Ginger swooped in to save the day! 🦸‍♀️🐾 With Ginger’s help, Bonnie and Clyde are transforming into the sweetest, happiest little goofballs you’ve ever seen.
They're not quite ready to hit the adoption stage—we’re giving them another week or so to finish blooming—but get ready. These charmers are about to steal your heart (and maybe your snacks). 💕🥹🍖

In true mal fashion, Lucky (formerly Kit) loves to climb. Here he is living his best life where he gets to spend half time in the Tahoe mountains. His pawrents, BAGSR super fosters, adopted him as a "foster failure" and say he may just be the best dog ever. 😍 He was sprung from an overcrowded chaotic shelter in the nick of time and look at him now! Fostering really does save lives!

ANNIE found her new home!! She's going to be a busy girl with lots of family and friends to keep her busy. Congrats little Annie and family.

ANNIE and her 5 siblings were removed from a hoarding situation and taken to Solano County Animal Care and they asked us if we had any room at all...........Ugh........but we squeezed them in and you all stepped up to help foster them. Thank you for helping us save their lives!!

Meet LUKA. This petite little pistol is looking for a new place to call her own. She is approx 7 years old but sharp and quick as they come. She loves balls, water and being out and about exploring the world. She was tested with cats several years ago and was not at all interested but has not been tested recently. Good with other dogs and has the most amazing recall - really - it's amazing. She is a pleaser and will make a great companion. For more info, go here:

Sweet Sass had dental surgery to remove two bad puppy teeth. We removed it because we didn't want the adult teeth to get impacted when they come out. She's resting quietly while we make her a yummy delicious dinner tonight. Thanks to Dr. Haas and her staff at Bowman Vet Hospital in Auburn for taking such good care of her.
