Julestar Dream Maker AKA Cody Follow the life of Cody, a JuleStar kennels bred Northern Inuit. We will try to post regular picture and story updates, and share personal experiences!

Cody is an Northern Inuit dog (NI) which is a crossbreed/breed in development, and a breed perhaps most famed for playing the Direwolf pups in the hit to series Game of Thrones. The breed will be seeking KC recognition (comparable to an extent with the Dutch 'Saarloos', which is KC recognised in the Netherlands as a national breed). In the 1980s five wolfy type dogs of unknown lineage were importe

d from USA to UK. These were bred to Malamutes, Siberian Huskies and GSD crosses. The goals were to create a wolfy appearance with a good family temperament. These were called Wolf Dogs. Records were not kept. Around 1988 as there was no wolf content the name was changed to Northern Inuit and The Northern Inuit Society was formed. Over time there were differences of opinion on development of the breed and there was a split. New bloodlines have been introduced to improve health, temperament and conformation. Northern Inuits are being developed with a "Home Pet" temperament that has a wolfy appearance. They are often described as "Wolf Lookalikes" and have zero actual wolf content.

It's back!

Thanks to the help of friends and strangers alike, Cody's ramp made it back to our van and was neatly placed underneath while I was at work on Saturday ❤️

A massive thank you to Beth , Laura from and a lady called Susan. If you could get in touch i would like to give you all a little something to thank you!!

There was a lot of "passing the ramp", but we got it back! Not only that, but a kind friend ordered a spare for us, thanks Adele!, to have at home so we will never be caught out again!

Thanks everyone!! ❤️‍🔥

Our second part of the stay was in the gorgeous Springwell forest. Upon arrival I was able to pop up the washing line and my hammock, and dry the blankets and towels from the beach that morning. Cody definitely tuckered himself out from our 24 hour stay on the sands, so spend most of the day just snoozing in his blanket outside, no big walks wanted or needed.

It is certainly a different pace compared to our previous adventuring, where we would park up somewhere and hike from sun-up to sundown. I used to feel very conflicted about Cody now slowing down with his condition, but I am learning to take joy in every good moment and to just be present. My companion is still enjoying life, and every second of it, but just at a different pace... and long may it continue ❤️

Amazing first day, parked right up to the high tide line, so I had no overnight worries of tides moving in or anything. Fabulous walks, even a few trots and the odd short run ;)

The next morning we explored coastal caves, belly dipping spots, before Cody zenned in the van and huumom went for a sea swim and onto our next location

Our Story

Julestar Dream Maker, AKA Cody, is an independently bred Northern Inuit / Timber dog from the JuleStar kennels. It is a crossbreed/breed in development dating back to the 1980’s, and perhaps most recently famed for playing the Direwolf pups in the hit to series Game of Thrones and ‘Rollo’ in the series Outlander. The respective breed clubs will be/are seeking KC recognition (comparable to an extent with the Dutch 'Saarloos' breed, which became KC recognized since 1975, and FCI since 1977).

In the 1980s five wolfy type dogs of unknown lineage were imported from USA to UK. These were bred to Malamutes, Siberian Huskies and GSD crosses. The goals were to create a wolfy appearance with a good family temperament. These were called ‘Wolf Dogs.’ Records were not kept. Around 1988, as there was no wolf content, the name was changed to Northern Inuit and The Northern Inuit Society was formed. Over time there were differences of opinion on development of the breed and there were was a split resulting in several different breed clubs.

The Northern Inuit type breed is being developed with a "Home Pet" temperament and a wolf-like appearance. They are often described as "Wolf Look-a-likes" and have zero or dismissible actual wolf content.
