Booties are one of the most effective ways of protecting dog's pads. On the flip side, it takes time for them to adjust. They move about like their walking on hot coals! ;) While booties don't work for every dog, using paw balm is a good alternative. It forms a barrier on their pads to prevent drying, irritation and cracking. It also helps prevent sn*******ng from forming between the hair and pads. We use Musher's Secret on our girl. A thin layer of the wax on her pads and snout keeps the skin healthy. ~Booties image from BING
