I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I’ve posted on this page! A lot has happened, but the best part is we’re back! Sort of, lol. There’s so many birds that need help and we can’t turn a blind eye, knowing they could potentially end up in horrible situations. The good news is that we have some amazing parrots available and this time around we’re going to try something different in terms of finding them new homes. We’re going to post the bird’s names and personalities in the comments and see if we can match them up with perfect homes that way. Think Love is Blind but for birds.
Requirements:
• We live in Alpena and you MUST be willing to come here and meet the birds.
• You MUST have an appropriately-sized cage in good condition. These birds are all medium/large sized and need to be housed accordingly.
• You MUST own your own home. Large birds don’t do well in apartments or places that share walls with neighbors. Don't be THAT neighbor.
• No smoking/vaping/etc. obviously. Even outside.
• Must have bird experience.
• Must fill out our application fully and explain your answers. If you use one word answers or don’t explain why you want a bird or what your experience is, that’s an automatic no. I am super busy and don’t have time to waste on people who aren’t serious.
• If you don’t like the rules, there are plenty of other rescues out there you can apply to.
You can find our application here if you’re interested in applying: https://forms.gle/sSqUJ7cW4HFPSfXW7
Another note: Please don't message me about adopting the birds unless you have a specific question, like does Gus have a criminal record or has Annie eaten any children lately. Fill out the application and we'll contact you about the next steps if we think you'll be a good fit.
We appreciate your interest in adopting an exotic bird from NMPR. Exotic birds are not considered to be domesticated animals and require different care than dogs, cats, rabbits, or rodents. Because caring for an exotic bird is a serious responsibility and can be more of a challenge than with a cat o...
