I Ticks I

Ticks are a small insect (around 3-5 mm long) of the arachnid family. There are many species of tick but the one of most concern is the paralysis tick (Ixodes holocyclus).
The paralysis tick can be found along the Eastern Coast of Australia. They can be found from as far as North Queensland to Victoria! Other common types of ticks you may find on your pet are bush ticks or brown dog ticks.

Such a small insect can cause vomiting, difficulty breathing, drooling, and changes in their bark or meow. Loss of coordination and balance and weakness, especially in the hind legs and paralysis.

Food sensitivities have been to be very common for Brachycephalic dogs, particularly French Bulldogs and Staffy's. 🐾

Reactions to food include but not limited to: Diarrhoea, vomiting, reflux, Chronic Flatulence, red/hot paws or ears, chronic scratching at ears, itchy skin and skin infections, lethargy, hair loss and weight loss.

Depending on your pets' sensitivities, particular food or taking away certain products out of their diet can help. Grain free (including - gluten, maize, rice), no dairy(including- milk yogurt and cheeses) , no soy, no egg. Sometimes particular meats like chicken/beef or pork can be a food sensitivity factor also. 🍗

It is very important when trialling food not to feed your pet any treats or other foods as it can interfere with their trial.
However, its best to have a consult with your Veterinarian to get to the bottom of your pet's food sensitivities.

Food trials can take up to 3 months to complete or notice any results to change. 😮

If you are noticing any of these symptoms there may be a possibility your Fury pet is having reactions to there current diet. If you would like to book in for an appointment with one of our Veterinarians to discuss further, you can either book online or give the clinic a call on (07) 5549 0624 📳

I Heatstroke I

Heatstroke in dogs, or hyperthermia, occurs when a dog's body temperature rises to a dangerous level and they can't cool themselves effectively.
This is a medical emergency that requires prompt veterinary care and immediate cooling.
Early signs include excessive panting, drooling, red gums, and restlessness, which can quickly escalate to vomiting, disorientation, seizures, collapse, and even death if left untreated.

I Worming I

Is your pet up to date with their 3 monthly wormer for intestinal worms?
Even if your pet is on a monthly prevention we still recommend dosing with a intestinal only wormer, such as drontal at least once or twice a year.
