If you’re looking for high-quality, well-trained, safe, top-notch geldings, look no further. We’re selling our lead and swing teams. These four have racked up a lot of blue ribbons over the past few years and they have a lot of life left in them! As we step back to work with some other horses in the barn, these geldings deserve to keep winning and doing what they are best at, driving straight with their heads up! These four will take care of you. While their winnings are too extensive to list, here’s a snapshot of what they are capable of:

“Jack” is your go-to lead horse. He’s strong and knows his job. He’s been undefeated in the Unicorn for 3 or 4 seasons now. He’s led every six, four, and unicorn for us over the past few years.

“Little Wiz” has qualified for the HHPCS Ladies Cart finals several times. He’s safe for any driver. Won’t break, backs easily, lady-like drives every time. We typically drive him in the right swing.

“Wes” is a solid lead horse! He’s been used in men’s and ladies’ cart, too. He’ll carry his head and pick up his feet every day for you!

“Regal” has been our staple in the left swing for a few years. He’s also been in the lead and wheel when we needed.

These geldings have a lot of winning still do to. Call Bob at 937-408-3044 to learn more. $7k/each. Located in Ohio.

We’re grateful for the outpouring of thoughts, prayers, and get-well-wishes for Dad (Bob Shanahan). He is home and healing!

We’ve heard from friends near and far asking about what happened and how he’s doing. While showing at the Big E, Dad began displaying symptoms of a heart attack. Thanks to the help of some great people, he was rushed to the Emergency Room. Initial tests indicated it might be a stroke. Further imaging determined it was actually an aortic dissection. The inner most lining of Dad’s aorta had ruptured, in two places. This type of cardiac event is very life threatening and requires emergent surgery. We were told there was a good chance he wouldn’t survive the surgery. It was a long wait overnight while the doctors repaired several things in his heart, including a tissue valve transplant.

(Fun fact: you can book a plane ticket, drive to the airport, fly from Ohio to Connecticut, and take a taxi to the hospital in Massachusetts faster than they can perform that surgery. Just ask Mom (Missy Shanahan) and Dan, they made it to Springfield before Dad was out of surgery.)

After surgery, Dad developed a lung infection that caused some concern and additional discomfort. As he recovered from that, we were able to see more and more of his personality peek through. (i.e. he became more and more impatient!)

Dad is home now and we’re expecting a full recovery (with time and as long as he follows the Doctor’s orders!) It will be a slow process to fully regain his strength.

It’s times of tragic emergency that you are reminded how important the people in your life are and how little everything else matters. We’re thankful for all the friends and family who are helping out in every way possible. And we’re beyond grateful Dad is home and healing!

Not the Big E we had planned… on day 2, while hooked and headed to the ring, we thought Dad (Bob) was having a heart attack. Thanks to the help of some good friends, we got the horses unhooked and some great paramedics rushed him to the nearby trauma center which, thankfully, is also a highly-rated heart hospital. The timing and location of this situation ended up being a blessing! Had the show been further from a huge hospital or had he been alone, this type of cardiac episode would have ended differently. Dad was rushed into a major surgery. (All of the nurses keep telling us how lucky we were to have the on-call surgeon we did… he’s the best!)

He is now recovering and being monitored by a great healthcare team. He has a long road ahead to recover but he’s already made some progress. He’s off the ventilator which means he can talk to us!

We’d like to thank the huge crew of horse show friends who did everything possible to get our horses and equipment packed and headed home. The horses got home last night and that’s one less thing to worry about. We’re thankful to have so many fantastic friends and family who dropped everything to help!

Thank you doesn’t even begin to cover it for the Hefner family and Jake. He had a notorious ladies cart career with Amanda Hefner while playing a key role in many hitch classes then, he had a stint as a breaking horse in Florida. We’ve been blessed to lease him this year! He had a big spot to fill in our right wheel and he’s done it flawlessly. He’s been an anchor in our unicorn, four, and six. He’s been a joy to show. Jake is one of the greats. (Probably one of the most-winning ladies cart Haflingers in recent history?) Thank you, Amanda, Ryan, Augie & Scott for lending us the greatest. It’s been a fun season with him!
