🎉 Today is Winnie’s 10-year Gotcha Day!
It’s no understatement to say that adopting Winnie, saved my life.
This sensitive, innocent angel has given me purpose & love in more ways than I can count.
She has been my savior.
When I first adopted her, she was skinny, scared, & so sweet.
And for the first couple of weeks I never heard a p*ep out of her…
no barks or playful growls.
Then I took her on a social walk (structured to give dogs space around other dogs) with our local Pit Crew through the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. We were walking behind a very talkative & energetic golden retriever, when Winnie decided she’d had enough…she found her voice & started barking!
Winnie is the most vocal dog I’ve ever had & she talks to me in more ways than just her voice…
she stares at me with those big, brown soulful eyes…
she puts her head on my chest at nite when she knows I need some extra love…
and she snuggles with me on the couch to remind that I’m never alone.
In the last 10 years she’s moved from Virginia to Colorado, traveled to 42 states (including Alaska), and been to Canada.
When I adopted her she was named Little Miss Sunshine…
and even though she’s been My Sweet Winnie for 10 years…
she will always be my sunshine.
