This was the deepest, largest embedded collar I have ever seen in all my years. It will take a very long time to recover as the 4” deep wound heals. Rehabilitation has been difficult because he is absolutely terrified of humans, but each day is filled with progress and hope. Even after his chain was removed, he didn’t move out of fear of pain. He was conditioned to learn that movement meant pain from the chain that seeped and oozed with the slightest movement. His case is pending prosecution. So far, his captors have both plead “not guilty”. So the next court date is set for late February. I can’t release much information about the case until it is finalized. Winnie is feeling a little sad 💔. At just 2 years old, she’s smaller than most cats and has a unique, distinctive look. She’s not used to being in a place with less love and attention 🏠💔, but despite it all, she’s incredibly sweet and loving 🐾. Winnie even enjoys belly rubs, does great with other cats, and would likely adjust well to dogs too.

Meet Twinkle Star, a beautiful 2-year-old black cat with a heart full of love. She is shy when first approached, but with some patience and love she warms right up and loves to have her head pet. She has come a long way since she first arrived, and I had the honor of hearing her purr today which I have not heard from her since she came to the shelter. She was also recently spayed (which is why she is wearing the cloth donut, so she doesn't lick her incision) and is up to date on her core vaccines, and monthly preventions as well.
