Summer is in full swing!

This post is a few days late, but it's been a hard week to adjust to life without her. With heavy hearts, we share the loss of our best girl, Mrs Potts. Your giant heart just couldn't keep up anymore.
Potts, you joined our family by chance a few years ago, and we are so grateful for each day we got. You broke all the rules when it came to a dog for us, yet you could do no wrong in my eyes. You were huge, you were drooly, you didn't listen the best. But yet, you were the best pillow, the best one to hug with your giant fluffy neck, had the creepiest but most loving droopy eyes, and a face that makes everyone smile. I literally couldn't get enough of you, and have hundreds of photos of you sleeping...

You were truly a 'nanny', always keeping a watchful eye on the girls, or any kids that came, following them around; and even to the dogs, especially Rooster when he first joined us as a little pup, you raised him well and I'm thankful we had you for those busy puppy months to teach all the manners!

I miss your snuffles, and spits as you meandered around and plopped down for a nap. I miss your random bursts of speed, always surprised by how quick you could move! I miss your ridiculous bark, such a high pitched small sound from the great beast you were!

You were my staple on walks, as you got along with everybody, and just plodded along with me, every whistle within seconds (you had your moments of great speed!) You'd be sitting politely and waiting for that treat! Without fail, every time. Even if I didn't have treats, you loved love, and became my best listener.
Potts, you were my meet and greet dog, my companion to the seniors, the non players, even the haters, and the rambunctious puppies. The prints you left are huge, and too big to fill; as you were one of kind.

We love you so much, Potts. May you rest in peace. I know Summit and all the others were so excited to see you. May God be with you, til we meet again.

Happy first day of Spring!!!! I'm half way through my spring break rush, and it's starting to become a wet and muddy party! Heard my first canada goose last night, too. 🥰

If you know your summer holidays, please check in with me! I've already had a number of bookings, and space is limited.
Also, we are closed end of April, early May for our own holidays. And I will be taking a week mid-July volunteering at a kids camp (another dream come true!), as well as a couple weekends here and there to take our girls on adventures. If these dates overlap with yours, I am sorry for the inconvenience!

Introducing little Lia, our newest foster. Lia is such a fun and smart girl, weighing in at a super quick and energetic 40 lbs she's the perfect size for those hiking, biking, skiing or whatever you have in mind adventures! Travels well in a vehicle too 😉

She is very food motivated, showing a promising recall, she has a very 'heeler personality' and often walks right behind me, without a leash on! She also has great leash manners. And is continuing to learn good manners around people. Being calm before pets is important!
She LOVES to play, and can be quite forceful about it. Not all dogs appreciate this energy, and she is learning to respect the older ones who tell her off, but definitely takes the mile when given an inch. I feel she would thrive as a single dog where she can bond well with her person. She is learning to be called away from playing with another dog, but she reeeeeally wants to play. So being consistent is key!
She could live in a home with another dog, but would have to be the right one for her big energy!
She is extremely smart! And would excel in agility, or obedience work.
She is great with kids, and doing well learning to be calm around them.
She is calm and quiet in a crate, and has been non destructive. She can also spend time alone in a yard, and is patient til I let her inside.
She is 11 months old, spayed and vaccinated!

Merry Christmas from our Christmas crew to yours! We hope you have an amazing holiday season, I'm so thankful for how God brought me to this 'line of work,' a dream come true. It's a full house this year and I couldn't be happier!

Good news over here regarding my foot! No surgery is needed, just taking it easy, with proper footwear for now. Recheck in 6 weeks. Apparently it's a rare, unique fracture, something neither doctor had seen before...not something I'm stoked about, but so thankful it won't require surgery!
I celebrated with a short, sweet, and slow field wander. I sure miss getting out here!

I figured I'd keep you all in the loop. I had an unfortunate incident this past weekend, and it ended with a foot fracture. The next few weeks involve me in an aircast, and awaiting a consult with a surgeon to see what the next step will be (pun intended!).
I've informed the current clients we have here now, but to save me from texting the same conversation I figured I'd post here.
My oldest daughter is truly a gem and after it was confirmed a fracture, without even skipping a beat she said she can walk dogs for me (thinking she's been waiting for an opportunity to be more involved!) She is mature beyond her years and has proven herself kind and patient with dogs long before this, she even stops along the way with her camera to take their photos. This all makes me very proud!

While I am in the recovery and rehab mode, I'm going to be taking less dogs than normal (if I can). I am currently booked all of September and most of October. Once I hear from the surgeon I'll have a better idea beyond then what we can handle here.
