Such a long and busy day.

The horses really appreciated their pedicures and everyone seems to be moving more comfortably!

Then we got lots of stuff at the coop. They are happy to have their lick tubs back out and this will be enough grain for the week, then back next week Saturday 😮‍💨

Tomorrow we are picking up hay, we found it for $50 a bale instead of $70 YAY, but we are strapped after the $1000 day we had today. If you have it in your heart to sponsor a bale of hay, we will not say no. ♥️

If you don’t know Annie’s story…..

She showed up here with a load of horses from Texas. Skin and bones and defeated….

I didn’t buy any donkeys. But the hauler handed me the paperwork and I took one look at her and knew I couldn’t send her back to where she came from.

Still to this day (over a year) nobody has ever asked me if I accidentally got a donkey I shouldn’t have.

They’d have to ohysically fight me if they tried at this point 😂.

She’s the most gentle, sweetest, loving donkey I’ve ever known and our pasture just wouldn’t be the same without her.

We love you Annie the stowaway.

We’ve enjoyed having these two here. They are owned by another rescue and have spent the month with us quarantining and getting healthy before they make their trip to MA.

People ask us often, WHAT WE NEED. People like to shop for the horses, rather than send money and that’s ok ♥️.

These are all items that we are needing, pretty badly.

The bluebonnet and triple crown horse feed is new to us, but we have been trying it with this round of horses and we are seeing some amazing weight gain (along with supplements, etc)

Fly masks are HUGE as we have multiple one eyed horses here awaiting their eye removal surgeries.

We are treating fungus/ rain rot on a couple horses that came in (Coat defense has always been AMAZING for us)

Why do we fundraise to sponsor needs?
The answer: aside from running solely
On donations, it has been our working principle since day 1 to maintain lower adoption fees, with the belief if our adopters can keep more of their funds in their pocket, our horses will ultimately be better cared for.

We do extensive research on every applicant to make sure they are still financially able to care for our horses, and yes the general consensus is, “tHE hORSe Is ThE lEaSt ExPeNsIvE pArT”

Exactly. It’s our mission to adopt good horses at fair prices, and we do that by working through each horse and fundraising their costs.

FVR pays for training ($800+ a month) amongst a lot of the day to day, and that eats up a lot of our funds, considering we try to run every rideable horse through a program one way or another to insure everyone’s safety.

FOOD!! There are a lot of us here right now and we are going through a bag of grain a day! And we love hay too, Mom says we are eating everything 😂.

I get fed Triple Crown Complete which is $33 per bag!
Round bales are $75 and square bales are $10.

Bossy

This girl is ready for a new pasture! Bossy is a big girl,big b***d and solid, she stands around 15hh.

Bossy is late teens and UTD on the things.

Bossy is gonna be a good ol trail mare, mosey down the trails type. She’s not gonna run off with you.

You can get a canter from her, but you have to push her for it. Otherwise she is fine following or leading.

She can be a little cinchy (we treated her for ulcers) but as long as you cinch her slow, she’s fine.

Bossy tends to be more dominant in a herd and does fine with both mares and geldings.
She can take a little bit to warm up, but once she does she’s sweet.

I would say if you’re a complete beginner she isn’t the horse for you, but if you know the basics, you can ride her.

Great with her feet, great for the vet, loads a trailer perfectly. I also suspect she may drive, but we have not evaluated that.

I need a name!

I am a mid teens gelding- right now they call me clippity clop cause I have one shoe hanging on for dear life (farrier coming soon!) but I think I deserve a real name.
