It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Pickles on September 9th 2017. I was introducing him to my mom's new dog in my closed fist and in a split second he was in her mouth. We got him out in less than 30 seconds. I couldn't see any puncture wounds or feel any broken bones. The nearest emergency veterinarian that treats parrots is an hour and a half drive away. I bundled him in the car and started driving as fast as I could. Half an hour into the drive he fell over in his travel cage. I pulled off the highway onto a side street and got him out. He was limp and not breathing. I suspect my little Pickles simply died from the shock of the incident. I don't blame the dog. I blame myself. It was a tragic accident.
He loved all of his friends animal and human. He's now up in heaven giving my dad (RIP) report. In a little bit...when I'm ready...I'll resume posting on this page. His brother Babs, sister Honey and all their friends and cousins will continue his work and his antics.
As for me...I'm devastated at this loss. But I must move forward....for him...one step at a time.
