At Greater Huntsville Humane Society, we are proud to stand alongside the dogs in our state, along with the countless advocates taking action to build a better future for AL dogs!

On Monday, Spencer attended the Community Conversations at Edgar's Bakery in Birmingham regarding animal welfare legislation, Beau’s Law (SB361).
SB361 - Beau's Law is advocating for stronger protections for the dogs in our state. Standards include:
• Proper shelter
• Adequate food and clean water
• Humane outdoor care standards
• Ending the use of heavy chains and harmful choke or pinch collars
SB361 recently passed the Alabama Senate with overwhelming support, with every Senator but one voting yes. This marks the furthest any dog protection legislation has advanced in Alabama in 26 years!!
What is next?
On Wednesday, March 18, Senator Garlan Gudger will present Beau’s Law to the Alabama House Agriculture & Forestry Committee. If the committee approves the bill, it must then move to the House Rules Committee, which determines whether the bill will be placed on the House calendar for a full vote. In the final weeks of the legislative session, many bills compete for limited floor time. If Beau’s Law does not advance to the calendar, it will not receive a vote this session.
This is your chance to HELP ‼️
If protecting dogs and improving outcomes in dog cases matters to you, PLEASE contact your State Representative and ask them to support SB361 – Beau’s Law.
Call, email, or better yet, BOTH ‼️
Together, we can help ensure that Beau’s Law leads to meaningful change for dogs across Alabama. Stand with GHHS, as we stand for the dogs in our state, and alongside the other animal agencies that have waited a long time for this day to come. A special recognition to Allison, Wendy, and the individual statewide advocates for their continuous fight!
