Indian Ringneck parrot available for Rehoming

We are posting this on behalf of the owner of the below bird. We are assisting with rehoming by allowing the owner to advertise on our page. If you are interested in the below bird please contact the owner on the contact details at the bottom of this post.

"Lollie is Free to a good home, but will not be rehomed to just any home, applicants will be asked questions, and will need to provide photos to the owner"

Name: Lollie
Species: Indian Ringneck
Age: unknown, estimated to be between 8-10 years old
S*x: Female
Location: Taringa, QLD

Background: Lollie was rescued from a Facebook rehoming service after being found after a cyclone having escaped from a local aviary further up north qld. She has been in my care for 7 years and has lived alongside other Indian ringnecks, cockatiels and an alexandrine parrot. Having best company with the larger birds rather than smaller parrots. She has cohabitated with dogs and cats without issue, so she can live in a pet friendly household.

Behaviour: She has always been a sweet girl, usually bonding well to one or two people closely. She is able to be handled and will step up to your hand/ fly to your shoulder but she can be very sensitive and will resort to biting if frightened. She will happily sleep on your shoulder as a study buddy or walk around the floor around your company, but she does require a lot of time outside of her cage to socialise with people.
In the past year however, her breeding behaviours have been more and more apparent and she regularly needs to have toys/paper lining removed from her cage to reduce her regurgitating. She has laid eggs previously, usually in batches of 3, however none have stayed intact and have been laid from height. This has been as a direct result from her regurgitation/ hormonal behaviours.
She enjoys being scratched on her head and will throw her head back and purr like a cat when happy. Although this can quickly turn to a hormonal display.

Training/skills: She is able to step up and has great capacity for learning as she has been able to fly to your person on command in the past. She does not talk and is generally quiet but likes to mimic outdoor birds and small children squealing/ chirping.

Diet/medical concerns: Lollie is very healthy and has never had any medical issues/concerns but is overdue for a visit to an avian specialist. She has a pellet diet with regular access to fresh fruits/vegetables. Her favourite treats are banana, watermelon, pine nuts, walnuts and grapes/berries.

Ideal rehoming scenario: I would love for Lollie to go to a loving home where she can socialise with other birds and spend a lot of time with her favourite humans. I think she may do well with the option to breed later on in her life but I would just love for her to get the attention she really needs from an experienced owner. She still has her cage and some toys for her enrichment and these can be rehomed with her if required.

We received these lovely photos and a video of Prince, who was adopted in May this year. Prince has settled in beautifully and has made a big impact on Princess, the senior Princess Parrot he now shares a home with. Since Prince’s arrival, Princess has returned to flying and has even ditched her mirror!
Thank you Angela for sharing and giving Prince a wonderful new home.

We received this lovely update on Cooper, who was adopted late last year and has been enjoying some fantastic upgrades to his home! Thank you so much for sharing, Deb — we absolutely love Cooper’s new digs!

"Cooper loves the outdoors, so my hubbie designed and built these new digs for him. He accesses it from an inside drawbridge placed in our door size perspex panel. His water bowl and pellets are down the far end. We furnished it with natural perches attached to the wire, and a couple of stringy barks we picked up at a friends property. Cooper is really enjoying making a mess with it! I’ve added a couple of wooden chew toys and a homemade rope climbing swing thing, lol. He sits out there and mumbles loudly to himself, whistles, contemplates, yells at all the mina birds, turns into a wuss when the local cockatoos pay him a visit, and has to know what we are doing when we’re outside.

A huge success methinks.

Best Wishes to you from us…

Deb.

UPDATE 2/7/25 - Fatty is no longer available for rehoming.
Thank you everyone for your interest.

"Fatty is Free to a good home, but will not be rehomed to just any home, applicants will be asked questions, and will need to provide photos to the owner"

Details below are from Sheila who is assisting the following owners rehome their bird:

Location: Maroochydore, QLD

Carole & David have asked me to help them Rehome their 40 year old sulphur crested cockatoo Fatty.
Fatty is very bonded to David.
This is an extremely sad situation as Fatty is part of their family and there is no known alternative. Their property in Maroochydore has been resumed by council and as they are both in their eighties will be moving into a unit.
Fatty has never had any health issues and never been to a vet.
His wings have always been clipped and he does not fly. His nails are regularly trimmed by David.
Fatty sleeps at night in a cage inside their house.
He spends most of his time free roaming in his garden enjoying pulling the oranges/mandarins off the orange/mandarin trees.
He is occasionally visited by local wild cockatoos that he interacts with.
He also has an outside cage with a council type rubbish bin in it, no lid. Carol & Dave put cardboard boxes in this which Fatty likes to shred.

Bird Available for Adoption:

Name: Kale

Species: Eclectus

S*x: Male

Age: Adult

Location: Sydney Region, NSW

Interstate Adoption Allowed: No

Adoption Fee: $150

Comes with cage: No

General Info from foster carer:

Kale is an outgoing, confident and very tame male eclectus

He knows step up and and is more than willing to engage with everyone in the family to discuss his views and be the centre of attention

He is good with other birds, and any toys and foods they have in their cages, whats yours is Kales (in his humble opinion)

Kale does not demand attention, but he does enjoy it. He will just chat and sing to himself or another pet if your not around.

He loves toys and chewing/ripping apart natural folliage.

Kale is fully flighted so likes some exercise in flying but will also happily stay on a stand or cage play area

He likes a diet of pellets, seed and fresh vegetables and fruits, and like many eclectus excels at dunking all foods into his water bowl to create a parrot slurry soup.

Kale is a really lovely bird with no challenging behaviours who would make a great addition to a bird loving family

Recent update on Elouise who was adopted through our adoption program in early March this year.

"She is going really well. She has settled in well with Derek and they seem happy together. He has stopped all plucking on his chest now which is great. We had her inside for a little while at the start and she was stepping up and everything but she is a little more stand offish while out in the aviary but still quite friendly. She is a great eater and seems to love most things.
We are very happy with her."

Thank you for giving Elouise a wonderful new home Nyree & Luke.
