I’m delighted to share a success story this week… Barry suffered a terrifying fox attack on Friday the 15th of this month. One of his two girlfriends was killed, and he was left badly bruised, scratched, in shock, exhausted and with a lot of muscle spasm. His amazing guardians, Mickey & Glenn, have been hand feeding him a special diet, keeping him warm, and giving him red light therapy 4x daily. He had anti inflammatories and an antibiotic injection from the vet. Massage and PEMF therapy are what I could bring to the table, to help bring his muscles out of spasm and back to their normal function. After a fox attack it is common for chickens to get lactic acidosis, so the massage is really helpful in mitigating that, as well as extra nutrients in his diet.
In his first treatment I had to do a lot of work at the base of his skull where his muscles were in spasm from fighting back. Some very gentle neck stretches really helped too. Yesterday he was 10x better (check out his little jump to reach a leaf!🍃- another post- had a glitch uploading it!) and his treatment was much of the same, but also a bit more work on wing muscles that were too sore to work on last time. I’m so happy he is gaining strength every day. He may have some new girlfriends in his future too ❤️🩹
Thank you to Jen Beasley from too, for extra tips and advice!
