This is Margaret a.k.a. Maggie. She was living under someone's shed, pregnant, but was taken in to have her kittens. After her kittens were all rehomed and Margaret went to the Vet to be vaccinated and start her spay process, it was discovered that she has stomatitis and needs to have most, if not all, of her teeth removed. Maggie was then surrendered to our rescue, has now been spayed (just yesterday), and will begin her dental surgery soon.

Meet Romeo...also known by other names around the downtown area during his many months as a stray. Although a number of people were feeding and helping care for Romeo, no one had managed to secure him until friends of ours were able to coax him into their home. Sadly, Romeo didn't get along with their cat, or I think they would have kept him. We, at Ivy's Rescue, agreed to take Romeo in, have him Vetted, and find him a home, and the folks who secured him helped sponsor some of his Vet care.

Bella update

Background: Bella, is an aggressive, formerly-abused, tortoiseshell cat we rescued in September of 2023.

It took months for Bella to be brave enough to willingly leave her kennel...even though the kennel doors were left open for her...and even longer for her to leave the foster room...again, even though the door was left open. However, Bella now spends most of her time in the rest of the house; she even has a favourite chair. She does like to be able to run back to the foster room if something upsets her...she is still rather reactive to unexpected noise or quick movements, and she is still very reactive to anything that looks like a stick: a broom, a mop, even a litter scoop, or a wand toy. But she continues to make progress, and has even started sleeping on our bed with us at night!

And yes, Bella is still obsessed with my husband!

Rowan update:

"Hi! It's me, Rowan! I'm just stopping in to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

I also wanted to take this opportunity to make an announcement.

If you've been following our page lately, you probably know that I moved to the house when Hazel was diagnosed with cancer. 'The Woman who works for Hazel' thought it would be better for Hazel if I'm not at the store trying to play with her; it's probably not very good for Hazel's partially collapsed lung to be running around with me so often.

So I'm still hanging out at the house, and I just have to say, I LOVE IT HERE!!! I've been at the house before, while I was recovering from the ventral bulla osteotomy surgery on my head, and I was not happy here then; but I was recovering from a serious surgery, and who would be happy with that? 'The Woman who works for Hazel' thought I might be able to return to the store someday, but now 'The Woman' sees how much better I am at being a house cat than I was as a business cat.

Hazel is happier without me at the store. I'm happier living at the house. I think it's obvious what I need to do.

I'm officially announcing my retirement from the store!

I've spent most of the last two weeks on the humans' big bed, and I'm just not willing to give that up! I like to dig my way under the blankets and just snooze there for hours...who would want to give that up? Not me! So I'm retiring from the store! Thank you all for the love and support you've given me over the last year and a half that I've been at OMK. I'll check in here on the page every now and again." ~ Rowan, the former Our Mother's Keepers store cat >'.'

Meet Miss Charlotte. She is a little kitty with CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia) who needed a new home. We took her in this past July. We are not fundraising for her, as she will not be available for adoption. She is going to be a resident of the "Ivy House".
