CHANGE IN HOURS FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY: GPVS will be OPEN this Wednesday, November 26, 2025,(closed for lunch from 12-1). However, we will go ahead and close early if we do not have appointments.

Then the clinic will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 27th and Friday, November 28th to allow staff members time with their family for the Holiday.

Change is a part of life and after a few months of deliberation and preparation we signed the papers today to pass the clinic torch to Dr. Lucas Moody. It was not a decision we made lightly or quickly, however it was the right decision not only for our personal lives, but for the life of the clinic.

I took the reins from Dr. Gillette in 2004 and the clinic has grown alot since that time. In 2008, new buildings were built to house the present day clinic. During the last 21 years there have been many staff members pass through, many students, and we have made friends for life. Take a glance through the pictures and you will see many familiar faces. We are so thankful to this community for the tremendous support you have shown us through the years!!

Dr. Moody graduated Des Arc High School in 2008, he continued on to attend ASU Jonesboro then ultimately LSU, graduating in 2017. He has chosen to settle in this area with his family. We came to know Dr. Moody in 2010 and he has been around most of the time since then. He has a vested interest in the community and we are so thankful and blessed that he is willing to continue with GPVS for years to come. You will see him in several of the pictures with this post.

It is time, time to step away and pass the torch to someone else. I am not retiring, I can't, I am just going to take on new ventures. I will be working as a relief vet to help my colleagues that need to take much needed breaks. This is a much needed service that was not available to me, and it was hard at times trying to balance clinic life and wanting to spend time with my family and kids, and I wish to ease that burden for others. In addition, I will still go on large animal calls and may work with Dr. Moody if needed. My kids are out of he house now, Logan is in the Air Force and will be moving to New Jersey shortly. Lexi is attending college and playing softball at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, LA so needless to say I will be doing alot of traveling. I needed the flexibility to be able to continue to be involved in their lives.

With all that being said, the clinic will change hands on September 5, 2025. Please continue to support Dr. Moody as he continues to build the practice, taking it into the future. Thank you once again for your love and support through the years, it has been nothing short of amazing!! God had a hand in planting us here in 2004 and I know that He has a plan to continue for years to come with Dr. Moody!! I am sure he will be putting out information about office hours and other details shortly. Once again, thank you to all!! ---Dr. Jeff signing off.....

Our phones are down!! Internet is up for the time being, so please send a message by Facebook or just stop by if you are in the area. Not sure what has happened this time. This seems to be a more common occurrence now.

Heads up! We are very short staffed today (we have three out sick) and Dr. Jeff has a ballgame to attend at state this morning, then he will be leaving early for Lexi's graduation tonight. As a result we will not be able to take walk-in or work-in appointments unless there is an emergency. So sorry for the inconvenience, but some things in life only happen once and he doesn't want to miss them.

As of right now, we do not have power at the clinic due to storms that rolled through earlier tonight. Not sure when it will be restored, so please call before coming to the clinic tomorrow. We will keep you posted as we know more.

WE HAVE!! Our phones will not work with AT&T.. we don't understand why, but when anyone tries to call with an AT&T phone it will not go through and you get a "all circuits are busy" message. We have tried with our phones so we know this is the case. Calls from land lines or Verizon are coming through though. We are not sure what to do, I don't think the phone company think anything is wrong or maybe they don't know how to fix it. Regardless, if you can call us from a different phone or message on Facebook or email, we will try to keep up. We can call out TO AT&T phones, but they will not call IN. So sorry, we are not sure where to go from here, other than to switch phone companies, an avenue we are exploring as we speak. If it starts working again, and you get through with a an AT&T phone, please let us know, we are trying to figure this thing out. We just know that something is broken because our call volume is NOT what it usually is. So sorry for this inconvenience.
