These two babies were recently trapped on one of our TNR visits. They are definitely young enough to be socialized so that some day they can be part of a family. Socializing a Community cat is a little different than a kitten born in a foster home.
You have to be patient and take your time socializing a kitten off the streets. If you have more than one it's best to separate them so they don't rely on each other. Withholding food until you are present is also a good motivator and lets them associate a good thing (food) with the person socializing them. Churu's or "meat tubes" are another great way to socialize. You can start presenting it at arm's length and over time pull it closer and they are so distracted they move closer. Play is also a good distraction if they are willing. They get so focused on the wand toy they let down their guard a bit. When they become more comfortable they start to purr and will push their heads into your hand for pets. Once that happens, they are on their way to a pampered lifestyle indoors as part of a family.
