Friends of Highlands County Animal Services PLEASE READ!! We are not Highlands County Animal Services!! The caretaker(s) informs us of behaviors that they see inside the shelter environment.

We are volunteers who work closely with the shelter to help place animals that are looking for a safe home. Please note that “Friends of Highlands County Animal Services” is run by volunteers that work closely with Highlands County Animal Services in order to help the animals in the shelter get noticed, adopted or rescued. The “Friends of Highlands County Animal Services” page and any parties involved in posting available animals make no claims regarding temperament. However, these behaviors can change in various environments. We are always looking for:
- Adopters who are willing to give a permanent home to a shelter pet.
- Rescues who can take dogs, cats and other animals.
- Fosters who are eager to work with rescues to temporarily take in animals.
- Followers who will share posts and contact rescues or individuals to aid the shelter.
- Pledgers who assist in covering vetting costs and other expenses.
- Volunteers who can transport animals to rescues or adopters. Thank you for your help!!

Meet Phillip. He is a very sweet boy and we have no idea about his past. He does have some scars on his body. We suggest Phillip be an only dog in a family or possibly a meet and greet with a submissive dog. He is very sweet and takes treats gently.

Great day at Highlands County Animal Services!!
Both Brynn & Sunshine were ADOPTED!!
Sunshine was able to go home right away because she was previously spayed and she is already making herself comfortable and being silly!!
Brynn will need to wait until she is spayed to be able to go home to her new family with her siblings!!
Congratulations to both families and thank you so much for adopting!! 💕

Pickles loves to play, he takes treats gently and he walks ok on a leash. Pickles will need a meet & greet with another dog if you have one in your family, because he doesn't like some of them. Pickles also is not a fan of cats.
