A Legacy Of Community Support
OC Animal Allies began in 1984 as a small group of dedicated animal lovers in Orange County coming together to form an organization dedicated to helping Orange County residents and animals. In 1987, we were granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and the Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OCSPCA) was born. In 2019, the organization changed its

name to OC Animal Allies to reflect its unique position in the animal welfare space and to more accurately convey its mission and vision. With a continued focus on how best to serve the residents and animals in Orange County, our organization has developed innovative programs that focus on keeping animals out of shelters, and potentially euthanasia. Today, OC Animal Allies provides solutions for spay and neuter, emergency financial support, education and other resources. Our programs bring hope to Orange County pet owners who often have nowhere else to turn for help. OC Animal Allies is an independent, volunteer-driven, non-profit and is not affiliated with any other SPCA, including the ASPCA. We do not receive any funding from government or other agency and our operations are entirely funded by the generosity of our individual and corporate donors.

It can happen so easily... “Please Help! Buddy needed an emergency surgery - he’s just a puppy and he got away from me when I was getting in the car with him!”
Before she could catch Buddy, he was hit by a car. It happens in a second. When that terrifying call came in to OC Animal Allies this week, we stepped in to help get this cutie the surgery and attention he needed. Your donations help support pets like Buddy and the many others who depend on us for help each week!

Donating today helps save a life tomorrow!

Founded by Joe White, a Vietnam War veteran and K9 handler, K9 Veterans Day was initiated to commemorate the service and sacrifices of United States military and working dogs. March 13th was chosen because it marks the official establishment of the US Army K9 Corps in 1942. Over the years, the significance of this day has grown, bringing attention to the multifaceted roles these dogs play, both in and out of combat.

Meet Tick! Tick was found abandoned on the streets collarless but wearing a homemade dog sweater. He then was brought to one of our Veterinary Hospital Partners for evaluation and help. OC Animal Allies is helping pledge to provide veterinary care for this guy, who will be available for adoption soon after some care and surgery is complete.

The good: Tick is a very happy, sweet little male neutered Chihuahua mix estimated to be around 10-12 years old. He is housebroken and current on vaccinations. He loves sitting next to you getting pets or napping quietly on a comfy dog bed. Since arriving at the veterinary hospital, he’s gone to work and taken over the receptionists' office. He loves people and will happily follow you around the house. And as you might be able to tell from his photos, he does LOVE to eat. Appetite is not a problem for this guy! He has been fine with cats although he may bark at them and he tolerates other dogs but prefers they leave him alone. We suspect he'll be fine with older kids who respect his space.

The bad: Tick appears to be deaf and has a mass on his chest and severe dental disease that will be addressed surgically next week. We suspect most of the teeth will need to be removed. The mass is most likely a soft tissue sarcoma, which is generally curative with removal. He also has severe arthritis of his right carpus (wrist) due to a previous fracture that was never properly addressed. He is obese at 20 lbs and will need to lose some weight which should help with the arthritis, however he will need ongoing pain management for the rest of his life and a prescription weight management diet until he reaches a more appropriate weight. Additional bloodwork and testing are being done to rule out any other conditions, but sadly he had been neglected. While in good hands now, we are looking to place him in a home where he can be part of a caring family willing to provide and care for him.

Tick will be available to approved homes after he fully recovers from surgery, but we are happy to speak with anyone who might be interested! Please contact us at [email protected] or call 714-964-4445.

Supporting Animals, Serving the Community.

Our History In 1984 a small group of dedicated animal lovers in Orange County, California got together with the purpose of forming an organization dedicated to helping animals and preventing animal cruelty. In 1987 they officially received their 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and the Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OCSPCA) was born. Over the years our organization has grown and evolved, always focusing on how we could help the most number of animals possible. While some groups run shelters we decided to form a program based organization whose primary focus is to help reduce the number of animals killed in our shelters every year through spaying and neutering and through keeping the pets in their homes.

In 2020, the OCSPCA became the Orange County Animal Allies in order to better reflect with the evolution and progress that has taken place as a result of more than three decades of dedicated service to animals and residents of Orange County. What started with a group of committed animal lovers has grown into one of the county’s premier non-profit organizations, with innovative programs that assist those in our community who are most in need. This positive change reflects our continued expansion, which would not have been possible without the backing and support of our devoted animal lovers like you.

We invite you to visit our updated website, www.OCAnimalAllies.org. We are very proud of our heritage and legacy and we recognize that the name Orange County SPCA holds historical value and resonance. We will retain the OCSPCA.com website and automatically redirect visitors and emails. Our new website has a refreshing and clean new look, aimed at streamlining ways for Orange County residents to get help and to support those in need. Our office phone numbers will not change and mailing address will remain the same. Our Tax ID and non-profit status has not changed. We receive no government funding or contract. All our good work is dependent solely on financial support from our community of donors.
