While some of my conclusions were educated guesses, one thing is certain – their ancestral diet was fresh, foraged food – mainly plants. Rats have eaten a fresh diet for most of their ancestral history before they became commensal and started to live off our stored food and waste. I have hand-raised Norway rats up for adoption. They are unfortunately too tame to be released, and will do well in a pet home.

There are 5 males and 2 females available and will be ready to go home in 2-3 weeks.
