LMAO! I miss the sheer ridiculousness of cockatiels. They are very serious about their silliness though!

Some days everything remind me of Muffin! He would have fought me for my crusty bun and then enjoyed running all over the plate.

Sometimes I think Chirp returned to me in another colour :D I always wished I had more time with him. Star enjoys sitting by the door too!

A tale of two tail feathers!

As Will ages I've noticed his feathers look more blue. You can also see the down is grey, compared to Star's nice white fluff.

April 2025 marks Will's 8th year with me, so he's easily in the 9-10 range. Even little birds can live a long time, so be prepared to be committed to budgies for many years.

So, over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, we adopted a new friend!

Star is a stray we adopted from the Calgary Humane Society. He passed his complimentary vet exam, gram stain and finished quarantine a couple of weeks ago.

He and Will aren't instant friends--but they're slowly figuring things out. Star is a young budgie who wants to do everything while Will just prefers to nap :)

Not an easy post to make, and one I've been putting off, but we sent Chirp over the rainbow bridge in September. Like a lot of us these days, he did his best to hold it together, but his health was declining.

Many people have the philosophy of letting a pet bird pass at home, but going to the vet, where he was surrounded by familiar staff, was the best option. He left on a warm, sunny day, in a quiet room with Will and I right there.

I'm sharing their last picture together as a reminder of their wonderful friendship. Let's always be a friend to others--the world needs more kindness.

Sure, budgies snuggle, but none quite like these two! Will outlived his friends and Chirp's two friends were adopted without him 😭😭😭

They know a thing about loss, but at least they are forever friends 💙🤍💛💚
